I never like the fair rides to be honest even when I was a kid. Especially roller coasters. Somebody tried to drag me onto one of those things once. That was a big mistake for them.

when i was younger i loved all the rides apart from the ferris wheel, that was way too high for me,and my friends always used to rock the car,it scared the hell out of me

lol....gone are the days when funfair rides are thrilling. Even for free I will never want to try on any of the joyrides in funfair. They will only give me an instant heart attack! It is only meant for children and the adults should not take the risk as it might be a ride of no return.

i wish i'd had that advice before the fair

hi doormouse You are not the only one to get sick like that riding on those rides. I went on one at Disnyland years ago with myhubby\and our two children.called magic mountain by the time we got off the thing I was so sick, dizzy, dis oriented, so the next time I stayed on the ground and felt great. the others thought that ride was fantastic. Now the teacups were tame, I could even ride those and the carousel of course, I loved that, always have.

Oh, thanks for the laugh imagining you turning green from going on those rides. I'm not too old, I just 'grew out of it'. I get my thrills in other ways like riding my horses.

I do know that feeling. I will go on nothing anymore either. I used to ride it all, but it does not even interest me at all anymore.

It really is, but I cannot move for days if I do, let alone the sick feeling I get. It just is not worth.

doormouse, I always enjoy family trips to the fairs and amusement parks where one of the reasons is the happy atmosphere in these venues. Everyone is happily laughing and most of all having a ball. It is also a place I would visit when I am feeling down. It is also a place where I could relive my childhood days where my parents would bring my sister and me to, when they are free. It is always a happy occasion for all of us, the thrilling rides, cotton candy and the indescribable happiness of winning a prize or two at the stalls. Even when we did not manage to win a prize, we never fail to have a good laugh watching each other trying to win. So, I would like to encourage you to let loose and enjoy the times together.

I am forty years old next year but I don't think I am too old to ride those fun rides. . . I am able to enjoy riding those fun rides because I always accompany my daughter when she make a ride . . It is more enjoyable now than those days when I was still younger .. Have a nice ride.

You're never to old for anything fun but I get what you are saying. Sometimes it feels like I've grown out of all the things I use to do as a child though I really rather still be able to go on roller coasters and going Treat-or-tricking. Ah....how time changes us

This reminds me of the Mummy ride at Universal Studios. My son was goading me to go on the ride and see if it was something he would be able to handle. He had no problem with the Jurassic Park ride just before it, but was unsure about the Mummy. So, foolishly I did. So, 10 minutes after the ride, when I wasn't so sick anymore, and when all my senses came back, I decided that I was too old for it. He took my advice and skipped it.

No one's too old for funfair rides! Unless your really really old and your bones are brittle. lol. Oh and if you get easily nauseated. Maybe you should be stuck on merry go rounds and on the snack bar. :D

haha maybe you shouldnt drink too much liquids before getting into those stuffs... is a matter of mentality the age in my opinion... you can enjoy everything as long as you keep the spirit for that.

Aw bless! I have not been on funfair rides for years, the last time I did I was 13, but I have not been on the rides since then as I'm not allowed to due to health problems, which really frustrates me, as I'd love to go on the rides!

When I was 16 my parents took me on vacation with them, and we went to an amusement park. We rode a rollercoast, and when we got off, we got back in line, and rode it again. I turned around to see my parents getting off the ride, and they were green. Huffing and puffing, looking really bad. They didn't even go on one more ride after that.

I think I know that ride you're talking about. I last went on that ride about 12 years ago and, when it stopped and we were all supposed to get off, I couldn't stand up! The world was spinning! Honest! I was so dizzy by the time that ride stopped that it took me a good five minutes before I was able to stand up. The guy in charge of the ride was telling me I had to get off but I couldn't. I told him so, too. I think he understood but was in a hurry to get the next group seated for the ride. I knew then and there that the rides were over for me. I have panic disorder syndrome and anything that gets my heart pumping like those rides makes my adrenalin go nuts. I haven't been on any of those rides since that time. I like having my feet planted firmly on solid ground. I'll tell you something, if I'm ever in a place that has an earthquake, I'm leaving that place and will never set foot there again! Nope, firm, solid, non-shaking ground for me from now on.

Thankfully my children go with my husband.I am unable at the moment to go to places like that so my husband took mine and they all had fun.Afriend of ours also wanted to go to the fair and so he gave him a lift up there and our friend is a big kid at heart. The only problem with taking my youngest son to a place like that is he gets over excited so then he will not sleep hence he is still awake,so maybe not such a good idea next time for him.My other son who is 8 years old it tired him out and he was sound asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow, shame his brother woke him up.

Oh no! My husband was never into spinny rides - makes him sick! Makes his stomach churn just as you were saying! I have always loved any kind of rides - even the spinny ones - but I'll tell you I do feel my age these days. I went on the merry go round recently with my little one. She wanted to go in the cup seat where you spin around and around - so we did. We shared it with another little girl and boy, I'll tell you we spun that thing like a tornado. I didn't get sick, but I was sure dizzier than I remember what being dizzy was!!
