What's the biggest lesson you've learned in life?

The one thing that you want to make sure to pass along to your kids? The one lesson that has stuck with you throughout the years? I think for me it's turned into more of a mantra. "Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff." Meaning, to me at least, things are never as big as they seem in the bigger picture of life. What feels like an insurmountable obstacle of the moment in days, weeks or months, will seem trivial. It's really helped me to just "go with the flow" of life instead of fighting it and in the end has given me a greater sense of "peace", for lack of a better word. Another for me would be learning how to simply "live in the moment". Accepting the fact that you can't re-do the past and that you have no control over the future. It's this moment. Right here. Right now. That's all that we have any control over.

Hmm, there are just so many lessons that I have learned throughout my life that have stayed with me......
The most important one is that no matter how horrible and tough things maybe, there is ALWAYS someone else who is worse off and that tomorrow is another day. Secondly, that laughter is indeed the best medicine.
Having two boys with autism, both of these statements mean so much to me on a daily basis. Of course, not sweating the small stuff is extremely important too =)

One of the important things that I have learned in life is to keep my cool and just let things be. When the going gets rough, there's no use fretting. That's just a normal process, everyone goes through tough times at some point. These tough times won't last forever, so we can just be passive about them. And before we know it, everything is fine again. We just have to keep the faith and face life with a big, happy smile.
