Last night me and my girlfriend were laying in bed together and she ask me if i will get her a dimond ring for a purposal ring. And i always wondered this why does the ring have to be bought and worn to show that you are married. Why cant it be something like a bracelet or even a necklace. Ohh well i guess ill be working hard until i can actually marry her and get her future ring haha. Anybody know why the ring symbolises marriage?

i guess the ring symbolizes an everlasting love, a cirle, no angle, no endpoints. it is worn traditionally at the "ring finger" because their is a vein which is connected to our hearts.

i find that interesting because as i grew up my parents told me the ring symbolizes the love you have for the one you love but the problem was that it was just a object thats what never made scene to me

I am not quite sure but I know now that people are getting the ring tattooed on their finger, or are wearing something else like a necklace or a bracelet to symbolize their union.

Traditional interpretations aside, I believe that rings are a better symbol of love than a necklace, earring, or even bracelet.
Why?
-You would get to see a ring more often. You won't even get to see an earring unless you look into a mirror. You won't get to see a necklace unless you pull it and hold it in front of you.
-Bracelets could be great substitutes, but something about them is just a little impersonal. Also, bracelets could be reminders of handcuffs. Not exactly how you would want to remember your marriage!
A ring is "concise": compact and straight to the point. It's a good reminder because you would see your hands often. It's also dainty and subtle enough because rings just perch on your fingers. Also, something about a ring hugging your hand is just so intimate.
This is my two cents' worth. Hope you like it! :D

Since somebody already said the answers I want to say I will just add on the topic why not necklace or bracelet or anklet. Well this accessories symbolizes things too like for a necklace, it means you hold her by the neck or like what we do to our pets like a collar but a pretty collar of course and you would not hold it physically. Same goes with bracelets and anklets. These accessories are chains you in essence you chain the person you give these accessories too. So next time be careful in giving these jewelries.

well its because its a traditions thing of showing commitment. If you dont have much money then you can buy gold or silver ring as well.I think what does matter is how true your emotions are for that person.Ring and if it is diamond, silver, gold these things doesnt matter much.

it symbolizes eternal love, you know why it is circle? because a circle don't have a point to stop its rotation unlike the other shapes, and it is wear in the ring finger because the ring finger is know to be connected to the heart

In my own opinion the Ring symbolizes oneness in the eyes of God and in the eyes of His people. It's a material thing that keeps on reminding you during the time you made promises during your wedding day. Even for better or for worst you are still there to lean on. The most important is there's love that binds you until the end of time...
