Well here's my answer NO! I do not agree with this philosophy, I feel that as long as you are able to have luxury's without going broke and your not forfeiting anything important such as bills etc.
I think just because a person may not have tons of money or may have less financially dose NOT mean that they dont deserve some affordable luxury's you might be surprised at how many people out there that actually think that those who dont have money dont deserve to enjoy some of the nice things in life, and think thats a bit unfair. now dont get me wrong things are not as important as survival but everyone deserves to enjoy a little luxury's sometimes as long as there not braking the bank to get them. but maybe you agree with the no luxury's for low income folks way of thinking.
Tell me do you feel that those of less financial means deserve to have no luxury's?

Who ever thought up that STUPID philosophy?
Nope, sorry I don't agree with it. If you can manage your meagre amount of money, and still manage to afford a few small luxuries in life, then go for it. I think when you are poor, you deserve it even more, actually. The rich take so many things for granted that the poor have always had to live without.

personally I don't really care about other people's spending
it's their money, it's their responsibility
if they break the law etc while spending, well they will be reported
other than that, I don't think anyone can decide who deserves what
as far as purchases, all the vendors care about
is that somebody buys their merchandise and pay for it in full
doesn't matter they are poor or not, famous or not LOL
in fact there are more people with low income than average and up
so this point of view, definitely is not good for businesses anyway

depends on what u mean by luxuries... a simple ice-cream cone could be a luxury to a very poor person who only has money to provide for the very basic stuff in life. In general, I think everyone needs a break from the stresses of daily living so even if a poor person has somehow scrimped and put aside money for a luxury item, then he has earned the right to enjoy it.

Well there are some luxuries which can be bought by money only and its natural that poor people are not going to have it;It doesnt mean they dont deserve it but. They can work hard, earn money and can enjoy luxuries as well.
There is no point in taking loan and having luxuries but that will broke a person financially and then whole country if everyone star doing same thing.

I agree with you. My husband and I have gone through some tough times, and when we are in them, there is no going out to eat, no new clothes, no movies. We just put the money we have towards bills. Sometimes good people fall on bad times, and you just have to cut back to survive. If you want the finer things in life, work for it, save for it, have three jobs, but if you don't have the funds, you don't get the luxury.

hiya apples,
What is a luxury to one means nothing to another Person. Someone might throw out a nice handbag or shoes that they have never worn another person gets them and to them it´s a lifetime treasure.
When my Washer or Fridge has been broken I have had to learn to do without so getting new ones for me has been a real luxury. Also a Kitchen light would just keep going off when I needed it to be on especially on a dark Winter night. That is another luxury for me as this Kitchen is very dark anyway and the light on is a must for safety etc.
Being able to go for the Shopping and having enough to buy the just even the right amount of food and things is a luxury although sometimes I don´t always feel that way.

I believe that everyone is deserving of a little of the luxuries of life. Money should never be the obstacle that keeps you from achieving this. People with more monetary means may have it a little easier to obtain, but lower income doesn't mean it can't be had. Self confidence and determination will show you the way. So keep believing and don't let go of your dreams.

you deserve the luxeries in life.. you just have to work harder though to get it... if you earned the money it is about for you to decide where you want to spend the money, right? we all deserve to be happy, to feel the greatness of this world, we all deserve to know what luxery living feels like - some just have to work for it, but some are just born into it though. hehe

Actually this reminds me of a credit card collector who insulted me over the bills I had with their company. He stated that I didn't have the right to have a vacation (since a few weeks ago we joined in a vacation with the other members of the family) because I didn't have the money to pay my bills. Could you believe that guy?
I think anyone has the privilege of enjoying oneself and doesn't need to explain where he/she got the money or funding for it. It's not like they're really intentionally not paying. Doesn't mean that if you have money problems you no longer have the right to smile, right?
Besides, it's not like you're stealing or something. I just budgeting funds and the best way for a person to think about how to handle problems is by relaxing first and foremost.

Almost all of our luxuries in life comes along with money . . If we don't have enough money, chances are we will not be able to enjoy these luxuries in life .. . But this doesn't mean that we have to stop enjoying life jsut because we don't have money. .

Apples99, what you call luxries might just be the understanding of we humans that having it means you are living a good life, i want you to know that for me all this luxuries, the cars, a good home, very large and having all neccessary infrastructure and all other things which adds to living a good life are no longer luxuries but necessities as without it life will just be as miserable as it could get for anyone. So for me even not having so much to live a life that makes people say your name, admiring and wanting to be like doesn't still mean you are poor, you are still so brilliant as that individual life that amzing but the problem you are not like him is the fact that you are not as opportune as he/she was...so it takes time, everybody has his or her own way to achieve and make it in life, this just what you call it that matters...a good life is still a good life no matter what you have or wish you had, people are just not contented with what they have some have riches but die quicker than they imagine sand they couldn't spend their riches. So living life in your capacity and pace is ok and best, it doesn't mean we are poor and lacking we just have to manage whatever little we earn.

I'd have to agree with you. Everyone deserves luxuries. Just because someone has a little more trouble with money than another person, doesn't mean they are less deserving of the good things life has to offer. As you said, there are of course things that are more important. A person's priorities need to be straight. But if they are able to afford something nice, I'm all for a person being able to have it. Especially if they've earned it through pure hard work!
