This morning as I was logging on, a story caught my eye. A 94 year old woman was told she only has 6 months to live. When asked what she wanted to do before she got sicker, she wanted to dance one last waltz. The girls at the life care center set it all up. They bought her a dress, rented a limo. When word got around tons of gentlemen from the area came to fill up her dance card. Even typing it makes me cry. When interviewed after her waltz she said that if she died tonight her life was a full and happy one and she is confident in the fact that the love of her life, her husband of 58 years will be waiting to fill her dance card. Isnt that the sweetest thing you've ever heard? Its another Romeo and Juliet! Have you ever heard any other stories like this before? If so please share? dl

I wish I could take the credit for reporting the story but unfortunately it was yahoo. I just thought my fellow myLotters would enjoy a good love story. This woman was totally okay with the fact that she only has about 6 months to live. I think she is a remarkable woman and I can only hope to be a third of the woman she is. happy myLotting dl

Ahhh what a lovely story. Made me cry also. Its so nice that so many gathered to make that day a special one for her.
I do have something I want to do when Im very old. It started one day when I was hanging out with a friend of mine, we were around 16 and we were watching a race. I said Id like to do that one day, she said not until Im very old....we looked at each other and we said, "hey, lets do that when we're in our 80's, even if we're not friends anymore, we have to get together and do it"
We dont talk often but I called her on her birthday back in February and she asked me if Im still game to go racing when we're 80 yrs old. I said sure, why not!!
So I guess we'll both be part of a story in about 40 or 50 yrs!!

romance, love such as this is not really a part of our lives. or in mine anyway.i only dream of having a wonderful romance when i'm reading my novels or sometimes in my dreams. i actually have a really romantic dream that i don't feel like waking up. sigh
reading this was wonderful. it's wonderful that the girls at the center organised this dance for her and even more amazing is the love between her and her husband. it's not what we see often these days. like someone said, it's like romeo and juliet with some changes. thanks so much for sharing.

You said it all Sminut! When I read or actually watched the video feed I cried. It was so refreshing. With all the hate, war, and what ever else going on in this world, this story took me away from all that. It made me see that there is another part of life that doesnt involve hate. I get teary eyed everytime I think of it. You will experience this when you least expect it. dl

hi dloveli thats a great story and makes me feel really good, Im 83 myself so can feel for her. what a wonderful thing those girls
did for here, dress, limo and a full dance card., I feel weepy myself
as i think about it. I do wish I had another story like that to share
with everyone but alas I do not. I have seen some romances here atGold crest that are heart warming but no biggies. they are in their fifties and just hit it off.

Just from watching the video feed on the story it was clear that this woman was independent. She was so sweet. I dont think i would handle the news that I have only six months to live as well as she does. She gave me hope. At this moment in my life this story wa just what I needed. I hope she has the remaining time she has left is great. dl

i've read this too, at yahoo news. yeah you are right, he must have missed her husband so much. i remember the titanic movie where kate and leo starred, leo was waiting for kate and they danced at the end.

Listening to love songs while reading your story just made me shed a tear. For a world with full of problems and hate. Someone still manages to show us that true love does happen. Kudos to the people in the care center for living up to their name 'carers'.
If only there are people who could just be like that everyday, then our world would be a better place to live in. If only the news would censor the negative things and prioritize the good things in this world.
What struck me was the husband of 52 years. A love like that is priceless. It's good to see that indeed a marriage is not just a piece of paper and it lasts a lifetime.

Oh my god when I read the description for this discussion I almost shed a tear too. That is so romantic what she says in the end. Wow to be married to for nearly sixty year. That is such a long time. It must be hard too without her hubby. This story really does touch your heart. That is a a high number to reach though. I think wow you almost lived nearly one hundred years. That really is amazing. I think I wonder how she managed it and whether she lived a healthy life to make to such an old age.

Hi dloveli~ What a very sweet, but sad story~ I am glad that this
woman was granted her last wish. And I am also glad that she is
at peace knowing that she will soon be with her beloved husband
again. I don't think that there is a sweeter story out there.
So, don't be sad for her because she is going "Home" again.
That is what I read from a reknowned psychic, what they call
"Heaven" "Home". That is where you go to be with all your loved
ones. She will be dancing all the waltzs she wants with her
husband again and there isn't anything more wonderful and
magical and happier than that and she believes which is the
most important thing.

A real story worth retelling for years to come. It just started with a simple wish
from a 94 years old woman who wants to dance one last waltz. And it was made possible by the people around here who cares. If only things like this works among the many of us. Like you have to do something that could make others happy instead of only thinking for yourself.
You see...if you cares for your fellow human being and we wants the best for them then selfishness will never rule in the hearts and mind of the many of us and it would create a loving and giving world for all the people to enjoy.

That is so incredibly sweet. I think that it is awesome that the people at the center worked so hard to fulfill her wish. Then the interview after that waltz is really enough to bring tears to my eyes. It sounds like she loved her husband more than most people in this world love their husbands. It is good that she is so confident that he is waiting for her in the world beyond where she is living right now.

Hi DL... This is certainly a wonderful story.. The girls at the life care center did a great job in fulfilling the lady's last wish. I wish I was there too... I would have cried too, I am sure... What a wonderful story! A husband of 58 years... Wow... Has the dance happened already or is it yet to happen?

That is a lovely story. The only story I can think of is something I read in the newspaper long ago. It was a letter from a man who had fallen in love with a beautiful girl. He was writing to say that they had been married 50 years and that she was still the most beautiful girl in the world to him.

THERE YOU ARE!! I had sent you an email alittle earlier cause I hadn't seen you on here in a few and now here you are with this sweet topic. It is SO romantic isn't it? there are alot of ghost stories of people seeing phantoms in an area. They stay in the area becaue they haven't been able to say their goodbyes yet to a loved one. Ghost Whisperer used to have alot of touching stories like that on it.

Oh, this is a beautiful story. It has brought tears to my eyes. I hope that when it is my time to go, I can feel as content as she seems to be. I can imagine wanting to dance one last waltz or doing something that means the world to you one more time. I haven't heard a story like this, but this is beautiful. I love that she says her husband will fill her dance card in heaven!
