Aw, I can totally relate to that selher! First, it's important to recognize which pattern you have. Some people have diarrhea mostly, others have severe constipation, and some flip-flop with one symptom for a while and then the other. Some people can do the fiber bit, but others, like me, can't do the fiber and get even worse. I do oatmeal at bedtime lol. Yogurt helps restore the intestinal balance, but it has to be the acidophilic kind whether it's name brand or generic. For pain, I find heat helps. While I do have a heating pad, I find an old-fashioned hot water bottle works better. I believe it has to do with the weight of it as much as with the heat. The weight seems to help control the spasms, which is what is probably causing most of the pain.
Do be sure and try the yogurt every day for at least a few weeks to a month. I have a hunch you'll notice a difference. If you don't care for yogurt, there's acidophilous you can get at the health food store in the form of pills or powders. There's even some ice creams that have it added. Good luck!
