There is a product on the market that I have always enjoyed…Jell-O No-Bake Cheesecake. Now since I’m diabetic I don’t get to have it very often so I save it for special holidays…not long ago I tried a new kind. Since I was in the whole Christmas-Winter holiday zone I decided to try the new (or rather new to me) Jell-O No-Bake Pumpkin Cheesecake. I expected something like a combination of cheesecake and pumpkin pie...both things that I like. I was so disappointed. It didn’t taste anything like cheesecake and the pumpkin part was really bland. Hubby was nice enough to choke it down but I really didn’t like it and even with Cool Whip it didn’t help. I don’t think I’ll ever buy it again and I’ll probably just stick with my regular cheesecake…maybe top it with some blueberries or cherries.
Have you ever tried the Pumpkin Cheesecake? Have you ever tried something, expecting one thing and getting something else? Is your spouse nice enough to choke something down rather than toss it out?

Hi twoey68, it's nice to try out new recipe. there are two results coming out only. Like or dislike the new taste of the stuff baked. Oh gosh, you dislike the the new matching of pumpkin and cheese. I like pumpkin and we have our own harvest from the small vegetable garden behind the kitchen. There is still a big one hanging on the plant. I won't use it as part of the ingredients to bake cheese cake. I don't think the mixture of pumpkin and cheese is not that delicious.
I prefer to prepare steamed bun with well mixed dough from pumpkin and flour. It's a popular dessert available in my place. My husband and his elder sister love to take pumpkin steamed bun as our four o'clock tea as well. both my husband as well as his sister always would choke all the stuffs prepared and never like to toss any of them out lol...unless the stuffs are really awful...We then will use them to compose fertilizer for the vegetable plants.
Have a nice day

I haven't tried that but I did try Edy's pumpkin cheesecake ice cream. Edy's comes out with limited edition flavors around the holidays and this particular one sounded interesting so I tried it.
BLECH! Even in ice cream form, those two flavors just don't work together! I ended up throwing most of it away.
I'm fond of topping my cheesecake with strawberries. Actually, I like almost everything when it's topped with strawberries.

I have never heard of a pumpkin cheesecake. I can imagine how it would probably taste a little bland. I should really try it but I doubt it would become a favourite! I love ordinary cheesecake baked or not baked. My favourite is ricotta baked cheesecake. Yum! We have a store here that makes all these wonderful cheesecakes, I like to try a different one every time I go in.

Yuck! That just sounds Gross! I'm sorry but I never like anything really that mixes to things I like. I know sounds confusing but, cheesecake is great. Pumpkin is great. But, both together Yuck! I don't think so! I think if you was going to do something like that then why not make it a little easier and different. Like make your cheesecake then make your pumpkin pie and then put two thin slices on a plate together add your whip cream and enjoy! That way you know what you are getting. As for trying thing I don't like there are way to many things that they have on the shelves now a days that I don't like. One my kids like that I don't it the peanut butter and jelly in the same jar. Gross! I like my jelly and peanut butter separate until it hits the bread. And, the only other thing that I can think of is meat and cheese loaf. I do not like my meat and cheese pressed together like that. But, anyways to each their own. And, next time your hubby does that tell him thanks for being a good guy. You could even give him the remote for that night! LOL

I've never been inclined to try the pumpkin cheesecake because the combination of the flavors always sounded just a little bit odd to me. Now that you've said that it is bad, you can bet that I will never be giving this a chance.
Now, if I was to make something as an experiment, typically my husband will choke down whatever it is that I have made, but he will also let me know later that he didn't enjoy it, so I don't make that particular dish again.

Oh, I LOVE cheese cake and haven't eaten it in years, I try to not eat desserts or sugar. I love it with cherry pie filling on top..yum.
You would think it would be good, because pumpkin rolls (not sure if you have ever eaten those) are a pumpkin like bread spread with cream cheese and powdered sugar (a few other ingredients mixed in) then rolled up like a jelly roll and cut into slices..
I used to make it every Christmas, but then I ended up eating the whole thing (yes, it's THAT good) so now my Mom makes it and gives me a nice chunk, and it saves my waist line..lol

I made some "cheesecake flavor" instant pudding one time. It tasted just like ordinary instant vanilla pudding. Even with fresh blackberries on top, it was disappointing.

No pumpkin but one year we got an eggnog cheesecake thinking it would be good because my daughter likes eggnog. It was awful and we ended up chucking it. I have had the Jello cheesecake. I don't care for pumpkin but I like the seeds. It is unfair that your being diabetic keeps you from eating things you love.

Cheesecake lends itself to many add-ins. Strawberries, pineapple, chocolate (of course) and many other berry-type fruits. Pumpkin is not one of them , although like you, I like pumpkin pie as well a cheese cake.
I'm very glad for your posting, because I've looked at that recipe before and wondered if it was any good. Thanks for the heads up! If you're interested, I have a recipe for a pineapple cheesecake that was popular with my family as far back as the 30's. It's more like a custard and is much lighter than regular cheesecake. It's also low in sugar, coming from a time when many just couldn't afford that luxury. Send me a PM if you're interested.

My family likes the oreo cookie one so seeing the pumpkin mix I was thinking, okay, this is probably as good as the other. I agree Yucko. We didn't finish it, couldn't bring it to a family holiday because wasn't going to serve it. We gave it to the dogs and they even kind of looked at it and then back up at us like - you've got to be kidding right.
I don't expect anyone to eat anything that I can't choke down myself.

Ive never had the no bake pumpkin cheese cake. I have had the cherry flavor and thought it was pretty good. It's too bad you were disappointed, especially on a special occasion. My mother makes a fabulous pumpkin cheese cake from scratch for Thanksgiving. I guess some things are better made at home than from the box.

Hi, twoey68. I have never had this type of cake before. I don't even like pumpkin nor cheesecake. My husband loves cheesecake, but I never could brace myself to eat this. I have tasted it and it taste like cream cheese. But, I am not a lover for this kind of cake. I had pumpkin pie before, but it tastes really weak and plain. There is really no taste to it. I am sorry that your cake did not turn out as you have expected it to.Your husband seemed to think so differently though.
