Doctors have always told me when I was sick to get plenty of rest and fluids. If a doctor says someone is sleeping too much, that might only be if someone is literally asleep for 24 hours without getting up to eat or drink. We need fluids and healthy foods to help cure us, and I have known people who would say they weren't hungry and go a day or two without eating while they were sick. Maybe that is what the doctor is concerned with.
I see no problem with lounging in bed for 2 days if I am sick. I wake up on and off, eat something, watch a show, take bathroom breaks, and fall asleep again! My body can become really exhausted when I'm sick but doing this for a few days can really cure me :)

Thats funny, when I'm sick, doctors tell me to sleep and drink water of coarse. Doesn't sleeping let your body fight of the sickness? How is sleeping make you weaker?

when i am sick,i stay in the bed a lot, too.why not?i think we can get a good recovery by resting or sleeping when we don't feel well.the most unbearable symptomi got is headache.i hate it so much.and prefer running nose, cough and others.haha.when i have got a headache, how i wish i can fall asleep as soon as possible and forget the pain.don't need to worry about too much sleep when you feel sick.i think it is common.

When I don't feel well, I tend to sleep a lot because I feel better after having a good sleep. It is helpful for me to recover as soon as possible. This is my experience. One tip is to have a good sleep, another tip is to drink lots of water.

It depends on how I feel. There are times that I just lay down to rest when I am sick so as to gain strength. There are also times that I move around when my body is not so tired considering that when I sleep all the time, the body becomes weaker.

I nearly always do! The sicker I am, the longer I sleep, especially if there's much pain involved. I find it gets me through the whole thing much better.
I don't buy what that doctor says, that we "become more sick." Hasn't been the case for me! Anyway, since when I get really sick as a dog, I'm not worth a soggy dishrag to anyone as far as work or company, I might as well hibernate 'til I'm well again! Who'd wanna be around a sleepy, grumbly, contagious bear, anyway?

I always sleep more when I have come down with a virus. I find it extremely difficult to move around and stay awake when congested. If there is something compelling on television though, I'll usually try to tough it out and stay awake to watch.
TV was a lot more entertaining when I was a kid though.

Well, I sleep more when I am sick than when I am not sick because the medicine I take usually makes me drowsy and being sick drains your energy, making your body and mind become weak so you need to get a lot of rest.

Yes, I sleep and rest a lot when I'm sick. But only when I really really feel unwell and feel the need to rest. After a couple of days, if I'm not that dizzy anymore, I really want to get out of bed because it's so tiring to just sit or lie down there and do nothing.

yes it also depends on how your body reacts if you're feeling tired then that's the time you need to rest in bed until you recover.

Yes! I can't do anything when i am sick. I prefered to sleep the whole day. LOL! The more i get to sleep, the more i become better. But i am not able to watch the TV or read... If i strained myself to watch or read, my head will start to feel dizzy or it will ache so much that i can't open my eyes. That's why... Yes. I sleep and i wait for myself to get better. With the help of medicine of course!

no i dont tend to sleep when I was sick cause I feel that my body becomes weaker and weaker when I stay in bed, I keep myself busy to exercise my body so that I will gain more energy and my body will back to normal
