Do you think the media focuses to much on the horrible things in life, in the world, and in our own backyards. I have spent a long part of my life being a huge pessimist. Until recently I realized that even though there are bad things in the world and in my life there is ALWAYS good. I feel like the media only reaches out for the bad. I feel like as viewers we only look for the bad. Can you just imagine how much better are world, our socieites, and our personal lives would be if we looked closer for the good things. If instead of turning on the news and seeing a crime scence covered with caution tape.. you turned on the news and saw a caption of a happy family that adopted thier fiest child because they were unable to conceive. And while there are always bad things if they found ways to look for the good in EVERYTHING.Yes, you here about houses burning down, but instead of focusing on only how horrible the fire was... why not use words like thankful for the fire department that showed up to extinguish the fire, or the survivors that could have lost their lives.. but were so lucky to make it out. I just feel like our lives would be so much brighter and our hearts that much lighter if the good in life was focused on...what about ya'll?

The people in the media would always write something that will sell so they focus on the horrible and the worst so that they will attract more attention and would gain good returns in the end. This is the reason why I am not so fond of reading and watching news. When there are tragedies that happened, listening to media reports and updates will only make me worried and sad and frightened. I would rather just look at the brighter side of everything.

The media on television is in the same business that every other program is on television is. It is all about the ratings. The fact is that as much as we do not like it, doom and gloom does capture the interest of people flipping on the news. It is like a car crashing. You know the sight is gruesome but you just cannot manage to look away. No matter how much you want to. It is a bit of a curse all things considered.
I would like to see a bit of the positivity be focused on. Unfortunately, that is something that is not going to happen. The news media is basically a business. They do what sells and gets them the ratings or gets people to buy their papers. Good stuff might seem good but doom and gloom as what sells. A sad state of affairs in this world but that is just the bottom line.

The overall vibe of the news media is very cynical. They rarely report of good news, and when they do, it's usually between the weather report, and a commercial break.
They say controversy equals ratings. Don't know if I can blame them for doing what works. It is a very misleading portrayal of the world at large though.

That's just the way the media works. They like to make mountains out of mole hills and evoke a sense of fear into people to create a reaction.
I would like the news programmes that I watch to end on a positive note just to show that the world is not all bad.

It's in our human nature to feel, "Thank goodness that didn't happen to me," when we watch or read such disasters in the media. This way another way to keep the audience satisfied with their life because they know their life is better than the ones one tv or newspaper.
When I was good things on tv, for example tv series I will be very envious for those on tv. THis is why so many people felt depressed after watching 'Avatar' because they cannot have the life that has been displayed to them in the movies.
Another point would be that these disasters catches people's attention. News reporters care more about how much they are going to be paid for the report than what is really happening. Unfortunately, in our society, we care more of what others are suffering.
Good thing is that not all news is about disasters. There are ones about science/ techonology and gossip...although I'm not quite sure if thats posstive of negative. But all these things keep the reader entertained and thats what the media is aiming for, because thats their market, thats where they get their money from.
