Yea I hate it when people do that! This is why people are a lot of the time turned off by organized religion in the first place. I would never try and push my beliefs on anyone else, because what is that accomplishing, really? All it would end up doing is causing a full on debate, but that is never necessary. I would rather tell someone my personal beliefs and not push them on anyone. Just if they have a question about my religion, to be there as a support to them. The great thing about the united states is the freedom of religion. Anyone can believe whatever they want, and thats a beautiful gift for us all. You are right though no one will have actual proof of God until they die. For now its blind faith, we are believing based on what we feel and our own intuition and scriptures we have available. Religions are here to give us support when we can't take on certain burdens anymore. They help us to have something to hold on to and faith to keep us going. This is why I too hate when I see people pushing their religions on others. Religion is beautiful! :)

Hi, I sincerely believe that there is really no harm if one thinks that one's religion is the best. Unless one is able to think likewise he will not acquire the faith that is required to gain the best of religion. Also when one comes to the conclusion that religion is far better than anything else we actually deal with. With this elevated notion about religion, one is expected to attain the highest satisfaction in spirituality. But what makes me sad is the conflict between religions. What kind of people can possibly kill, torture and extort in the name of God? My belief is that, only people who have known their religion from surface and never cared to explore the sublime spirit and joy in the deepest plane of it. They are like basking sharks, they like disturbing the surface and doesn't prefer to go deeper. They always address the person as religion. Now, this is a big mistake. If a person is doing something wrong in the name of religion, that doesn't mean that his religion is the one to blame. Terrorism doesn't represent Islam, Earning money in the name of religion doesn't represent Hinduism, Killing in the name of Christ has nothing to imply about Christianity. These are actions that, over history has been done by us, human beings. Religion is quite indifferent to earthly matters. It is a way to commune with God and every religion is as sacred as the other, as effective as the other, but, only if you know its vastness and depth. We often confuse religion with superstitions. In reality religion only frees you from superstition and prejudice. An ignorant mind distorts the religion and interprets it in its own selfish way. Like there is always turbulence at the surface of sea, there will be disturbance caused by those who don't go deeper into spirituality. The deeper you go the happier and more tolerant you will be. Thanks God bless you

Because most people are solely taught that one religion is right and basically study the same things over and over again. Not everyone chooses to make religious discussions into arguments though and I would have to say that mylot is one of the more tolerant places of people's religions and beliefs. Probably because people aren't face to face here and have time to think before they get upset. I enjoy studying all of the religions because they all have some incredibly intelligent sacred texts as well as genius beliefs and practices. I think we need to study everything we can to combine together the positive effects of everything.

I very much agree with this. That's why I don't discuss my religion with people. Everyone is going to believe what they believe and that's fine. I believe differently from a lot of people and that's ok with me. I'm secure with my beliefs and I don't mind that others think differently. But don't try to tell me that I'm wrong. Don't try to convert me to your way of thinking. Don't invite me to church "just to check it out" when I've already said I'm not interested and don't keep pushing. Seriously. People need to learn that everyone is free to believe what they would like to believe. Most people can't get over the thought that they KNOW what is right and so they need to enlighten other people. Well, it doesn't work like that. Religion is faith and belief. You can tell people what you want them to think, but that doesn't mean they're going to believe it and recruiting them won't work unless they really WANT to believe it. Don't push your religion on someone else. If they express an interest then explain things to them and answer their question. My biggest pet peeve is when people get pushy with their religion.

First of all, there is no best religion. Second, there is no perfect religion. And third, there is always a comparison for religions. Whatever your religion is, your ultimate goal is to rely on your faith to the one whom you believe. It is not in the ways and means that their religion is the holiest of all, but how they act as a human being. Everybody has their own opinion to say regarding their religion and all we have to do is to respect it and let them live with it.

I don't believe that one religion can be the best religion, that is why we have so many denominations. For the most part, we all believe in the same God. It is just under different umbrellas per say. What is important is a person's faith and spiritality.

I don't know why people do this. I never do. I know my religion is best, For me Period! I wouldn't or won't try to get others to follow my path! I think that All religions are correct. The Best is up to the individual.

However, waiting until you die to find out which religion us the right one might be too late for those who chose the wrong way. I believe people need to weigh the evidence of each faith to see which you can truly trust. Is this religion just someone saying, "God told me such and such," but can't back it up with evidence, or can that religion say, "God told me such and such and here's the proof." What is the history of the religion? Were people converted to this religion by force or by knowing in their heart that it is from God? Are there prophecies in this religion that can be proven to have come to pass? Can you confirm what's in their holy writings? If any of these religions were on trial, could they prove their case, or would it be just a bunch of hearsay?

Actually, this is a really good discussion that you have started! Well, it envolves human mentality a lot. Many people around the globe like themselves, no matter what the rest of the world thinks about them! Their face, their habits, their way of talking, their attitude, etc. etc. It doesn't matters that how ugly they look or how harsh is their voice or how cad is their attitude! They really like it, I'd rather say, they love it! Similarly, they like their religion a lot. Well, even there are few people in this world who don't like their religion and convert to some other religion. But these people are few! And actually, I like these sort of people who love and conserve their religion for the sake of god! I like those girls who move around wearing Burkah or their religion's dress. Especially, in the urban and a bit sophisticated areas. So, we shall have a respect for our religion and should encourage those people who really do so!

oh is confusing to me too. I can't figure it out either, but I am glad to know I am not alone on that. Specially since the religion battle is one which has lasted for over the ages.

All religions are systems of faith and worship. They ask you to believe that your faith and your system of worship are right. They convince you that the path their religion has shown alone will take you closer to God. They have their own rituals, which they perform. What people believe in is their own private matter. The others should not either criticize, or force their own religion on them. You can at the most tell them that your religion says, and what the religions of others say in the same matter. All they can do is to compare notes privately to know more about their own religion. All must remember that this world is a stage and we are here to take part in a drama. God gives us the role to play our part according to the makeup we don and stand and front of Him. In the end after we die, and we will go and stand in front of God, He would see if we had played our part well or not. He will reward us according to our performance. Therefore, let us not worry but concentrate on the part we have to play.

I think since many of us know that religion is the expression of faith, people tend to ego trip that they have stronger faith etc than others. But I believe faith is not really about religion. It's the way of life.

the real fact is no one can decide this until the world meets it ens or even after the end of the world.... every one considers their religion as the best and no one can convince others that their own is the best religion. its better to follow our own way without disturbing others... that too friends need not fight for religion... understanding the goodness of other religions will be the best solution.

It is natural. People know about only their religion . Imagine a muslim reading bible and a christian reading bhagwat gita. It is not possible. People only know the power of their religious gods, hence they support only their religion

First of all humanity has proven time and again they do not know how to govern themselves or what is right or wrong. Most do what feels right to them. Most want to be right and everyone else to be wrong. That is human nature. Blame the universe, satan or who ever you wish. We humans are not perfect. The best thing is for friends and family to not force religious beliefs on one another. Be accepting and tolerant toward your friends beliefs ask and expect the same from them. Time will tell who is right or wrong and life is worth more than squabbles. If your fighting your not showing love and most of all love is important and the rest is not worth a ruined relationship. Let the cosmos, universe, intelligent designer, creator, God or whom ever you embrace take care of the rest and judge and chastise. You just be there and love and give and tolerate and accept while being true to your own understanding of the truth and what is right for you. That is the best for each and all.

Yes Anita, this is due to people's religious narrowness and lack of religious tolelerance! Religious narrowness make people to think very irrationally and for this they often loose humanity and turn into unsocial elements! Whatever religion it may be, NPT (Non-violence, Peace and Truth) must be the prime goal of people along with a healthy sense of tolerance for other religions and their followers! In my opinion, humanity is the best religion alongwith good moral as well as social values! Thanks for this nice discussion and have a nice weekend!!

I guess that people always feel their religion is 'best' or right because it is what they are taught from a very young age, and it is what is usually (not in every case) the religion that their parents are following. Therefore the religion is almost ingrained within people. If anyone challenges it therefore, most people would automatically become defensive. I actually think that all religions teach the same thing, but that man just has different interpretations.

My goodness! I have been around alot of people all my life who think they have the best and perfect religion! There is no such thing! People who are Christian love to cut down the Jews and the Muslims! Then the Jews and Muslims turn around and cut down all the Christain religions! I grew up Lutheran,Wisconsin Synod. The Most strict of the synods. The Wisconsin Synod is so bad they think they have the perfecet synod and the other 3 are not! Then the Lutherans think they have the perfect religion over every religion in the world! I grew up hating the Lutheran church and attending church! Thanks to grwoing up Lutheran I refuse to call myself Lutheran! I'm still a Christian but I have my own beliefs. I don't need to belong to a church or attend church to believe in what I believe in! That my friend is the best religion! Believing in what you believe in and not letting other people tell you what to beleive is the best religion there is!

I do agree with you. No one can say for certain that one's religion is the superior one. But the sad part is that most people fail to realize this and keeps on insisting that one's faith is the ONE TRUE FAITH. I may be a Roman Catholic, but I am liberal and tolerant of other religions. I respect people's choice of faith and how they express their spirituality.
