I have plenty of family members in Greece (some I have never met) and it is a bit uneasy for some of the locals there. My family is not directly affected by this but are glad that the request was made.

I'm sure that your family has a lot of relief that this request was made for their country.
I know that the economy has been bad worldwide for the last couple of years and now it seems like it could be getting better in some areas. However, I also see that there are a lot of places that it is going to take a significantly longer period of time for the economy to start thriving again.

Yes it is hard for the surrounding areas, one of my moms friends husband lost his properties becuase of changes there, she lives here in the US battling cancer. Kinda of had no heart for the issues at hand. It just goes to show yo how bad off some of the areas are. A lot like what has happened here in the US. They hear sob stories all the time and just get immuned to it. I really do not know what all this will mean until it is all laid out to see what is going where and how it is really going to help or not. My family does olive farms and oil. Too bad I have not see any $$$ from it. I should not either since I am not an active participant in the making of the products. You should work for what you get.

hi newtalent I can imagine you feel relieved too after hearing that they will probably get 53 billion dollars in aid and I am sure other Greek families will also be happier about things too. Right now the economy in so many different places is really bad. This is the worst it has been in my country the USA in many years. My own son is still out of work after
a year or so.but the jobs in his field are now starting to appear so there is hope there.

Hi Hatley, this has hit so many countries and people on so many levels that it is hard to believe it is still going. This has hit the US a few years back and now to see a country that has been so independent for the most part be hit its hard to still believe. Unemployment is terribly high. The funny part is that you hear inmates working for some good jobs that they got through work release programs, or employer incentives. We were talking about where a bank robber got a job filling ATM machines through a work release program, go figure that one out, lol.
