Hello Everyone, My hubby, daughter and I are travelling to the States, end of May with Virgin airlines. My baby has a car seat that locks onto her snap-and-go baby stroller. I would like to take both the car seat and stroller on the trip as she will need the car seat if we use taxis or rent a car. Now the car seat does not fold up with the stroller- you have to remove it before you can fold the stroller. I am not sure if at the airport they will treat the car seat and stroller as one luggage or two. As anyone had a similar experience? Can i take both the carseat and stroller to the entrance of the plane so they gate check it or would they tell us to check in the car seat with the rest of our luggage. I hope not! Look forward to hearing your views and experiences. thank you

I have a baby daughter and a toddler son. I like to travel to different places in the world. Last year I was pregnant with my daughter and I took my toddler son on a Virgin Atlantic flight from London to Cape Town. I was able to take my stroller to the plane steps. If I had traveled with a car seat it would have had to go as part of my luggage. I would suggest that you take your stroller with your baby in the car seat. Then when you fold the stroller take the car seat off. You could tie the car seat on to the folded stroller. To do that cycling stretchy rope could be used. I remember traveling on a low cost airline and there was a £15 charge for each piece of baby equipment except the stroller. I had to pay for my son's travel cot. Virgin Atlantic are an excellent airline. Good luck with your flight to the USA. We are flying on British Airways from London to Vancouver this summer.

Thank you for your comment and suggestion. I appreciate it. I need to go find me a cycling stretchy rope then! :) It has just occurred to me that when we get to the states, (we are going to Boston first) we shall be flying to Maryland from there on Southwest . I hope I don't get charged for the car seat?? Grhh Oh and I meant Virgin Atlantic not Airways :D

It will be easy for you to purchase a cycling stretchy rope. So you will be flying into Boston on Virgin Atlantic and then going on to Maryland on Southwest. I don't have any experience of flying on Southwest. They are likely to have a different baggage allowance to Virgin Atlantic. I sometimes look at the airline's web page for answers and not everything is explained very well on there. Good luck with your flight to the States.

Hi maximax, this is a quick update. I didnt have any issues on the plane. They gatechecked both my carseat and the stroller. Southwest even allowed me to use my carseat on the plane! Thanks again for your help :)
