Is No Profile Photo A Turnoff?

Do you people keep away from people who have no profile photo like me. Do you value their say and do you consider them legitimate. Do you decide upon them seeing their profile or seeing their comments and discussions? This might be very helpful to me!

If I see an interesting post I will respond regardless of whether the user who posted it has an avatar or not. However next time I might not realise that I am reading their posts again as sometimes usernames are complicated to remember, especially the long ones, therefore I remember an avatar.
It is not the box that makes the chocolates taste good right?

hi diana that reminds me of my moms old saying, the proof of the
pudding is in the eating.

I agree with mysdianait. Profile photo and avatar is important for remembrance. You are better remembered and better recognized among the thousands of MyLot users by your avatar. So, to me, it is important to have an avatar. It's your identity (together with your username).

It really doesn't turn me off. It still always end up to whether that non-avatar has a quality discussion or not. But sometimes, it's just easier to associate a topic with something we can visualize on. Like who raised the discussion about a certain interest -- and a picture would run into our minds because a certain image was instilled in our minds when we responded to a certain discussion made by a mylotter.

What makes the difference for me is the content or the post. It is an individuals choice to put up a pic or not. I change mine a lot. Currently it is of my hubby.

pranayhwhizmachine I do not think it is, and if that person is turned off by it maybe you are lucky, as that person doesnt sound too nice to
me to go by avatars at all. There is an old saying my mom used to use'when people were being too too snobbish, the proof of the pudding is in t he eating. In other words the proof of us users is much more in our discussions and postings than in any pictures. Kindness, good will will shine through any discussion better than any avatar.I do not decide on pictures or avatars but on their comments and discussions instead and I try to keep a very open mind too as I hate judging people in the first place.

It doesn't matter at all If you have avatar or not. This avatar couldn't be proof of identity or something like this. It is just a choice of own taste. It can be for fun, for personal expression, a moment feeling. It is up to you, if you'll put one or not.

I like it better when someone has a profile pic of some sort. I don't usually put one up of my face, but it's always something that is "me". For the longest time I had one of my tattoos, but this one is about a cause that is near and dear to me.

No this is of no importance to me. How a person looks has no influence of my responses/comments. Many avatars doe not have a photo of the user. It is the topic of the discussion which draws my attention not the avatar.

well an avatar would be nice but if you don't have one I won't make a big deal of it. I would still respond to you as long as your discussion is interesting to me.
when it comes to friends on here I don't approve too many too often. now and then I go and sort out the list.

Here in mylots i do not care about the pic. But other sites i do. Social networking sites i need to see a pic or rather alot of pic for me to even consider them a friend. Unless i personally know them. Its like trying to be friends with someone hiding behind a door. How can i be friends with someone who i can not see???

I'll chat with anyone, but I don't accept friends who don't have a picture. It's so easy to find a picture somewhere and use it. I use my cats picture as do about half of my friends. Gee would you have guessed I like cats?
Your picture says something about you. Either it is you or something representing you, your taste, likes etc.

Well, you will notice that there are many people that don't have a picture on their profile or if they do have a photo on their profile, it is not a picture of themselves that they have on there. That said, it doesn't really make that much difference to me whether or not someone has a picture on their profile. It just means that they don't want the world to see who they are and I've no problem with that at all.

When we say about discussion or comment, there is not a matter about your photo. It is your mind that show you how good you are.
But there lot of benefit if you upload your photo. Your photo is show who you are impress another. You can attract more people by doing this, and have lot of friend easier. Your photo can describe your personal too (not always), ex: if you upload flower picture, then you might be feminist, love flower and beauty or some kind like that :)
You could earn more money too if you doing this (uploading any picture).
I had lot of friend in my fb that regularly upload their photos, about every week. I think they love this, and they have pretty picture....
Anyway, not every person love photo, sometimes I don't like either because sometimes my photo seem so ugly.. and every person has it's own privacy.
So is up to you whether upload photo or not.

why should it be so, one may have a picture as avtar or maynot, it is immaterial for me, here we need to make comments, responses on discussions not on the pictures at all
thanks for the nice discussions
cheers

I'm aware that a few here are rather puzzled, perhaps even suspicious of it, but I'm not. The content of the post is what I go by--although, I do hesitate if the avatar shows something particularly disturbing or lascivious. It's likely that the mind which chose such a picture is not one with which I'd enjoy interacting, so why bother?
Just my tuppence!

Hi pranaywhizmachine,
I participate in a discussion because I am interested with the topic and I believe I can contribute something to it. I never care about the avatar being used by the discussion starter, even though I might recognize him or her better if they have their own avatar.
But usually check other myLotter profile if his or her username is sound familiar in my contry. MyLot have less people from my country and to know someone from your own country would make it better.

I have posted a picture, but it doesn't seem to update to my photo on my profile/avatar pic area. Does anyone know how to update that? I've looked everywhere, but I don't see a link to it.
