What Do You Actually Know About Kartini?

Just a few days ago, at April 21, we indonesia, celebrate Kartini days. Kartini was know as the Nasional Hero in Indonesia. She is the first person in this country that are care about the status of Indonesian Woman in the old days. But as time passed by, most people start to forget about what she do. They just know that she is the hero of the woman. But what she actually, people rarely remember, or even know at all.
From what i know, she is the one who founder of the first woman school in indonesia. Later the Hindia Belanda Government ( at that time we are under Holland Rules ) that are supporting etis politic make a kartini foundation and start making many woman school in indonesia. Kartini also known as a good writer since she write many article in magazine, she also often write a letter with her friend, the wife of minister of education at that time. Later on her letter was compile into a book by the minister of education at that time. The book knowns as "Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang".
Now the question is, what do you know about Kartini?

She is one of my favorite heroines. A celebrity of all times. Larger than life. Because of all the things she believed in and worked extremely hard to materialize them. She was the beautiful rose in a garden full of thorns. The bravery, courage, patience, perseverance, trustworthiness, integrity, determination and the profound love she had for education and her people in a colonial environment has certainly made a great difference in all Indonesians today. She made possible the opening of Indonesia's first school for women. Incidentally she rekindled hope in all of us, both man and woman, the importance of education and education as a means for social change.

What I know Kartini is beautiful woman, neat, respectful, well mannered, and very well care her attitude as a woman. Not like most of woman right now....

Well, off course Kartini is different from most woman right. Because the time where she live and now is really different. It's like a different world, now and back then. Kartini to create a world where woman can express themselves freely. So, techniquely, This Current World is the world that Kartini try to created. Although i am sure, there still need some repairing in many part. Thanks

Well Kartini is one of the first heroine in Indonesia. She is really care with her own country, especially with the development of woman in our country. But well, there is some thing that i need to corrected. At her time, Woman have a lower status than men is not because the dutch government rule. The Culture at our country ( and many other asian country ) at that time is the one causes it. It has nothing to do with the dutch, because it happened even before dutch come to our land. I think, people in Indonesia know Kartini as female Hero. every shcool in Indonesia celebrate her birthday but I don't like they celebrate it with wear Kebaya.Kartini is not only Kebaya. As a teacher and woman, we obliged to her because I can't imagine how women's Indonesia now without her merit. We can't be smart, active and do many things like now.

Yes, many people think Kartini is a Heroine. But usually, that is all they know about her. A heroine. Most of them doesn't even know what she do. People only know she the first person whose care about the status of a woman. They don't know what she do to achieve that. Some don't even know that kartini was actually a teacher. What they know about kartini is, that in kartini days they will wear kebaya, which i think, make the kartini lose it's purpose. I think they we should celebrate kartini day with something that are related to education ( woman education especially ) instead of just using kebaya. That's where i agree with you friend. Thanks.

Well, Kartini is female hero in indonesia. and i agree with what you have all ready mentioned above, She is a great woman that "fight" for woman rights, that so called "emansipasi wanita" so that woman has the same rights as man in a lot of aspects... thanks for rharing this good topics teman!

Yes, she is the first person that are mention emansipation for woman in her country. She do this because the effect of europe magazine and book that she read, as well as the influence of her correspondence friend in europe. The influence of Mrs Rosa Abedanon also have a great effect on her. Thanks for responding this discussion my friend.

Kartini was a smart woman. Proved only armed with Lower School education (primary level), he has been able to submit comments and suggestions on the Government of the Netherlands East Indies.
Kartini was a figure of the woman who was struggling, which he had not yet reached the goal of struggle. Kartini still in the process, a process which also served by the women afterward.

Yes, Kartini is Pioner. At least in our country. She created a way for woman to rise of their current status. She open a way for other to widen the road that she has created. Kartini Foundation is a very good example of people who see her idea and decide to follow it. Thanks for responding this discussion.
