Hi all readers!! It really looks very odd when we find some people and world leaders putting restrictions on Hijab, which means covering of whole female body including face and toes while going out of homes. It provides lot of protection to the Muslim ladies when they go out.It is,in fact, according to a divine order clearly given in the last divine Book, the Holy Quran:
"O,PROPHET (MUHAMMAD),ENJOIN YOUR WIVES AND DAUGHTERS AND THE WOMEN OF THE BELIEVERS THAT THEY SHOULD LET DOWN OVER THEIR FACES A PART OF THEIR OUTER GARMENTS (CLOAKS);IT IS EXPECTED THAT THEY WILL THUS BE RECOGNIZED AND NOT MOLESTED."
(The Holy Quran 33-59.................Surah Al-Ahzab.........................)
No one should interfere with the religious duties/obligations of any religion.Muslim men do not force their women to wear Hijab as they do it at their own. What are your views about it ??

Awapak,
I agree with you. None has to interfere in it. Women are supposed to do it her own same as many other Islamic rules.
However the verse you mentioned does not exactly saying to cover the face. However it could be interpreted in such a way though. See meaning of that verse below.
Ya Ayyuha-Nnabiyyu : Oh Prophet!
Qul: say
Li-Azwajika: to your wives
wa Banatika: and to your daughters
wa Nisai'l Mu'a'mineen: and women of believers
Yudneena: bring down/draw
A'laihinna: over them
min-jalabihinna: from their outer garments
dhalika: that is
adna: suitable/closer to
an-yu'a'rafa: that they will be known
fa la yu'a'dhana: and not be abused/molested
wa kana-Allahu: and Allah is
gafooran: forgiving
raheeman: and merciful.
The 'jalab'/outer garments could be something like a shawl/jacket/cloak/long scarf and some scholars interpreted it as face cover veil also. And the word 'Yudnina' some scholars translated as 'close under'. However I am not against this view. Wives of prophet were covering their faces while they go out or visiting non-relatives. But the advices of prophet to the believing woman is to cover their body except face and fore-arm.
Just wanted to clear about it, not to disagree.
Allahu Aa'lam/Allah knows best.
Peace.

It is really unfortunate that most of our Muslims do not go into depth of their religious teachings and are greatly effected by the baseless misinterpretations of the Holy Quran and the Holy Sunnah by others. These people want that we should also do the same with the clear divine orders and the Holy Book what they did with their holy Books before.
Pl try to understand that the Muslim women never wore Hijab in the beginning of Islam.Similarly the wife of our Holy Prophet(pbuh)did not wear it unless Hazrat Ummer(RA)once desired that at least the women of our Holy Prophet(pbuh)should wear Hijab while going out.Pl read its proof in a Hadith narrated by Hazrat Aisha(RA)in The Muslim,Kitab ul Adab. Then the best interpretation of the Holy Quran is that of the Holy Hadith. Here are some more Hadiths:
1."Hazrat Aisha(RA)narrated that when groups of men used to pass by us and we were wearing Ahrams(during Hajj)in company of the holy Prophet(pbuh),we used to hide our faces with our cloaks and used to put it off when they used to go away from us."
(Ahmad,Abu Daud,Ibne Maja,Bahqi,Darqutni)
2."Hazrat Asma Bint Abu Baker(RA)narrated that we used to comb our hair while wearing Ahram and used to hide our faces from other men."
(Ibne Khuzema,Hakim)
(TO Be continued)

With God, it's all about freedom to choose. Why can't man be the same??? Man always has to be controlling. Everybody wants to rule the world is man's greatest problem. People should have the freedom to dress as they please. If women want to cover up, I have no problem as long as it's their choice to do so.

Firstly, Hijab is not a clear divine order but an interpretation written by man.
Secondly, no one is forcing anyone. You are free to wear this in many countries but if you choose to live in a country where this violates the cultural expectation then do not expect to wear it

Please read my reply to your first post once again. We do believe the best interpretation of the Holy Book is that of our Holy Prophet(pbuh)who clearly told us that faces of our women have to be hidden from other men while going out of their homes.Yes,we find lot of penalties in the Hadith(words of our Holy Prophet(pbuh))for those women who will not observe Hijab or wear incomplete dresses......Such women will not get even the perfume of paradise in the next life ,as per his words.....

There is no penalty anywhere mentioned in Quran for those who do not wear it. Actually, Arabs are just manipulating the religion to impose their culture on Non-Arab Muslim nations where hijab is not at all neccessary. In short, they want to spread their culture and not the religion itself. So yes, I agree with you that the interpretation is done by man.

I would never dictate to a Muslim male or female how they should follow their religion. I'm a respectful outsider. I believe it is up to you , practicing Muslims to tell me What is proper. I think Islam is going through the same thing Judaism and Christianity have, it is splitting into different sects and some of the new sects are more liberal. It is sad but it happens.

Thanks for responding and sharing your nice views/concern.Yes,you are right we are also doing the same things which the Jews and the Christians did.....b/c the Satan is quite active to create differences in the true believers. The original Islam consists of only the Holy Quran and the Holy Sunnah and if we restrict ourselves to these basic divine sources, there will be no differences or sects in Muslims. In fact we are required to surrender to the divine will ,which we do not do and go after our lustful worldly pursuits.......

The eyes are the window to the soul, and by you hiding your face, you are telling others that you will have nothing to do with them. And Muslim people who follow Muhammids man made rules to kill another of mankind, don't belong in countries that are being terrorized by radicles who want to kill our citizens. Muslims don't want our religions in their countries, so why should we want yours? Muhammid was a mad man, out to wipe out all people who would not follow him. And his words that are claimed to be from God are not the written word of god but by his older woman who desired power through a false prophet made by the hand of Satan, not God. Do yourself a favor and stay in your country where you wont feel like your religion is being jepordised. Only criminals hide their identity in our country, and if you have to hide your woman from your men, I think your country is in trouble before you came here. You will only get the same treatment you give us in your country.
So if you don't like our rules, take your toys and go back home, you have no reason to come here.

You do not deserve any response b/c you do not have the sense what to write/say.See again what words you have used for our Holy Prophet(pbuh).Certainly you will never find any Muslim using such bad words for Prophets Moses,Jacob and Jesus(all pbuh)b/c we believe in them and respect/love them.....Just see the difference.Still you claim to be more civilized and educated ?

The hijab is a choice of every woman. No one should force her to wear it and if she wants to wear it, no one should tell her to stop. Its her decision. Everyone is talking about "western" democracy and how west countries are free. If they are so free why some of them don´t respect other nationalities and religions. Maybe they are afraid of something "different"? Unfortunatelly there are some arab and "islamic" countries that don´t allow muslim women to wear hijab as well. If some arabic and islamic countries don´t respect their own religion and choices of their "own" women, how can we expect a respect from non-islamic and western countries? Everyone should learn to respect the others for what they are, respect their religion. Islamic and arabic countries should respect their own religion too and not ban something, that is part of the Islam.
Lets say, that western countries and people who are not muslims are afraid of Islam (not all of course) and in other hand some muslims and leaders of arabic countries want to be so "modern" like countries on the west. We could speak about this all around and we will not find a solution. All we can do is to try our best to RESPECT others, but also respect ourselves.

Why do all you islamists always complain about what we do? If we go to your country (where Islam is highest) we can not pray to our saviour, and yet you claim that Jesus is known as a prophet, as you know we pray to Christ Jesus, but you wont let us in your country? What kind of people would expect more respect then you offer. Islam is very hurtful and demonic to anyone who wont bow to Muhammad. I for one voice, I just say to all you Islamists, take your sharia law and shove it where the sun don't shine. It is all man made laws, created by a mad-man who has no witnesses to back up your Quran, but Jesus had thousands to prove he was the son of God. What has your Muhammad claiming to be when he was seeing these delusions, as he even thought he was going mad, and was afraid of his demons, not angels of light as you are saying. This was all the stage play by some woman who used Muhammad as a tool to gain power through him, because they would not let a woman have power from the same visions as man. She figured if it did not work out, they would stone him and not her. The Quran is nothing more then a story book made up by a mental cripple and could not even write what he was told to write, not once but several times. If he was actually getting visions from an angel who had any power at all, that angel would have the power to give Muhammad the ability to at least write what he was told to write. No divine image would demand such a thing if they had the knowledge that he was illiterate. If the angel could not even know about someone who can't read or write, what other lies are the basis of these visits, that no-one even would believe in themselves for many years after the visions. God's angels would not show up in some secluded cave in the dark, as angels are not ones to hide in caves. All visions that other prophets have witnessed were in the light, and seen by others, and even spoke to others as proof.

With all due respect, I do believe that it is in fact Muslim countries that force other people of different religion(non-Muslim) to not practice any spiritual rites and beliefs freely in their country followed by many prosecutions to any violations of this. There were many reports on this and even first hand stories based on experiences from my relatives who had worked there.
As for forcing Muslim women to not wear Hijab, I don't think there is a law anywhere that states that but there are some professions which might require non-wearing of it because of the nature of the work itself and not because of discrimination.

This tradition was begun in Hot countries where the sun is very strong. In Canada women do not need to cover their faces because of the heat. In Canada Men and women are equal, and both genders enjoy the benefits of this law. Law abiding Canadians do not go about in public incognito, especially when female terrorists wearing the Hijab are attacking police stations and killing people in Arab Countries. If Arab Women do not feel comfortable in Canada without the Hijab, they can return to their home country. When in Canada do as Canadians do!

Why do some governments do not agree to the custom of some Muslim women covering their faces? Because they can never be sure if they are terrorists or not. Times have changed. Perhaps during the time of the Prophet Muhammad there were no terrorists. There is also the saying, "When in Rome do as the Romans do", meaning obey the laws of the land where you live.

I have seen a few verses about Hijab. But no where I saw the word "hair" mentioned. Apparently, long before Islam came to the Middle Eastern region wearing hijab was considered a part of fashion. Actually, hijab is needed to protect one's skin and hair from the extreme heat of Middle Eastern sun. Now what you don't know is that back then although the veil was there, Arab women kept their chest half revealed which is actually considered obscene. Not all were like that. It was usually the upper and middle class women who practiced it.
The verses you gave here is twisted. Please before you read a line verify what it is written about. Some verses actually came from the history of Islam and thus they cannot be applied to all situations. Here is the real verse: Surah Al Ahzab, Verses 58-59 "Those who harass believing men and women undeservedly, bear (on themselves) a calumny and a grievous sin. O Prophet! Enjoin your wives, your daughters, and the wives of true believers that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad_. This is most convenient, that they maybe distinguished and not be harassed. And Allah is oft-forgiving, and most merciful."

Thanks for responding and sharing your views on Hijab.Probably you do not know that Hijab was not there in Saudi Arabia before the final Prophet hood of our Prophet Muhammad(PBUH)and revelation of these verses. The best explanation or interpretation of these verses are that of our Prophet what he did or implemented in his own home and followers. We call all such Prophetic actions as Holy Sunnah which is utmost important to understand the last divine book, the Holy Quran. The Islamic Shariah consists of only the Holy Quran(words of God Almighty)and the Holy Sunnah(words and actions of our Holy Prophet(pbuh)as dictated/guided by God Almighty through His angel). We can not completely act on the Holy Quran without the Holy Sunnah, which was also from God Almighty......Once our Holy Prophet(pbuh)ordered all Muslim women to hide their faces from other men,we have to obey him.Mind you chastity and modesty of women are more important than skin.In fact face of a woman is the main index of her body/beauty,which should be hidden and this is what God Almighty, our Prophet(pbuh)desire from us.........

There is no verse in Quran where Prophet Muhammad asked women to hide their faces. If it is there in Hadith one must think twice before believing it, for it is written by men and not by the Prophet himself. One should never take hadith as a manual to understand Quran. This is because Quran is extremely scientific and no ordinary man is completely talented to interpret it. The words in Quran are so tricky that it is important to use more than 6 Arabic dictionaries from old and new ages to define them.
Also hijab was there as a part of fashion and culture many years before Prophet took birth. One good evidence is Mary's statue. Ancient Middle Eastern women did dress up like that, but their chests were bare.
