Hello myLotters... Yesterday night, before going to bed I read this article. It is about Spanish Inquisitions, which were later installed in some other European countries too...
It was started by a highly placed priest named 'Torquemada'. He had his own ideas about religion and its practice and he decided to teach his ideas to others in a horrible fashion. The inquisitors could accuse anyone of not being true to religion. And then they would torture their victim in most inhuman fashion. Some of those techniques made me blush for the humanity and cry. Why did they torture them? Because they wanted the victim to confess... and also to name the names! This naming the names game would bring in more victims. This went on for centuries in some of the European countries.
The techniques were so barbarous that even Ivan the Terrible would have felt ashamed. And worse, they never let any victim die in the torture chamber. The victim was handled to the Govt authorities, after he/she had confessed and named other innocents. All such victims were burned at stakes in a field on Sundays. Hundreds would be burned and other hundreds would be there to watch the show... .
Gosh!! This article made me sick. Had horrible dreams in the night! And worse, the realization that such religious fanatics are still there around us, had an impact on me. Wonder, if such fanatics ever gained power to rule, what would we do? We- the real humans, with conscience and gentle heart... Where would we go??? Have you read about Inquisitions? I don't think anyone will justify those. What do you think about them? Please share...

yeah, how could this thing happen infact i'm a grown up catholic, How could my parents didn't tell me about the history of this catholicism. There are several innocence people victimized on this so called inquisitions. the higher rank in their religion should educate their members about the horrible inquisition. They should explained it to their members. It wasn't teached during my school days., only this times i have watched it through movies. So horrifying and i would love to withdraw my religion since i was baptized during my infancy period. I am much disappointed with this knowledge of inquisition. But now i am happy because i am out with this religion.

Hello Friend... Such fanaticism has been seen in all the religions at different times. Every religion has this kind of blood curling history to narrate. Why isn't it narrated to next generations? Simply because one loathes those activities. Who would feel good, after knowing about such accounts? That is why, no one speaks about them... Not especially in front of kids. So much violence is involved in it, that it is better hidden from the kids... Do you think your parents would have liked to tell you about the violence? It was awful... I am 27 and I feel horrified to read those accounts... Your family had a good reason to hide these things from you...
I don't believe in any religion from the first... I have always told myself that I am a Human Being and my religion is 'being human'...
Thanks a lot for replying.. Have a nice time!

The thing is that religious persecution is still going on today. It's not in the same form but it is every where. it has happened in India, the Philippians, in China. Name ant country and you will find religious persecution. Before the fall of the wall came down in Germany Christians were put in jail and tortured in Romania, Then there was the war between the Serbs and Croatians. It just never seems to stop.

Yes, we may say that it is still there in some other form... I am an Indian and our history has a lot of accounts of such happenings too. The worse thing is that that one can't go on reading about these things, as the accounts given in there are truly horrifying and one wonders what kind of people they were, who could burn a human being alive at stake, for no reason... Thankfully, we're living in a safe and modern era...
Thank you for replying deebomb... Have a great time!

Hi mr_pearl, Yes I have read about the Inquisition and I agree with you, it was terrible. Rest assured that it could be just as bad today if the fanatics ever got that kind of power. I have seen it and still see it today in some instances, there are people who would stop at nothing to force others to their way of thinking. Give thanks that no church has the power today that the church did at the time of the Inquisition. Blessings.

Yes, I agree with you Pose123... It could be real bad, if the fanatics got the power. The small parts of the world where such people have monopoly, are suffering. Yes, it is happening in some parts of the world.. Where women aren't allowed to get educated, can't show their face to anyone, can't go out and have fun... Awful, but still, it exists!!! Thankfully, it is only in a small part of the world...
We should thank the Provision for leaving no religious society with a lot of power... happy Lotting!

Maybe religions should teach their history. They claim to speak the truth yet they leave out so much. People can justify almost anything if they think God is on their side. People who teach religion should include it all. Wisdom comes from the entire view not just the sheltered one.

oh yes, all religions should let the world know, how they brought tough times to some innocent humans in the history. I appreciate your quote and it is worth requoting: "People can justify almost anything if they God is on their side." I trust this would answer the religious fanaticism that is observed all over the world by some fanatic people and groups...
