Hey guys, you may be wondering why I am using this title. Here`s the story, three weeks ago, I was offered a job as voice talent from one of the leading learning language software. I didn`t qualify as translator, and to be honest, it is easier to find writing jobs online rather than translating, even though I got my first project from internet. Then, after I recorded my voice, they called me as they wanted to hear the way I read the script. And after a few days, I got an email, saying that they offered me..VOICE TALENT COACH!!I am going to train the talents!!!They called me again to know how I trained one of the talents using their guidelines. A day after that, they called me again, offered me a recording job for 3 weeks with good payment ( for 3 weeks and 12-15 recording days, I would be paid almost US$ 5000!US$ 40 per hour and they will cover my ticket and hotel). The problem is....the recording will be in Turkey, far away from Jakarta. And it is not easy to prepare everything to work abroad. It takes 2 weeks to extend my passport, then I had to get my visa and it is not easy to apply for a visa, especially in EU countries. Then, my tax ID number. If i don`t have tax ID number, i must pay US$ 250 as fiscal fee. I must make sure that the job is real, and the immigration will ask the purpose I apply for visa whatsoever. And...sadly, I had to say NO, because the people from the company wanted to get things done quickly, which is so impossible. And now I get stuck, I really want to try working abroad, but again it is not an easy thing. I have no money as guarantee if I apply for visa etc, and don`t know whether I can find such a job again in the near future.

Have you told them your situation and the arrangements etc before you say "No"? Because I think if they will hear it then they might help you arrange those. If they really want you then they must do things to have you. Well, based from what you have wrote you were just confused. At least you have experienced such scenario already. As the first respondent said... maybe it's not for you.... Thus, you learned from it and when the same opportunity came you may now decide clearly to it. You just did what you know you must do. That's fine. Just learn from it. If that's a mistake then it's fine, people do mistakes; but, if that's the right decision then congratulations you have chosen the right thing. Don't loose hope... the next opportunity might be better and more applicable on your situation.

I explained the situation, even I said that to obtain a working visa, we must have strong sponsorship from the company we will work for. Even my friend who used to work in Southern Thailand as English Teacher ( an Indonesian, my long time best friend), she said that at that time she didn`t have any money but she had strong sponsorship. After explaining the situation, the people from the software company said that it was impossible. The recording actually will start tomorrow. Well, thanks guys for your support and advice.May GOD bless you

Woow, if that's real, then I should say it's a great waste. I also want that sort of job, but if the circumstances make it impossible for me to do it, then what can I do? I am sure that you will be able to find work in your area. Just keep on trying.
