Do you start at the top of your house and work your way down or do you aim for trying to keep up with one room at a time.I do all the every day house work then i go and tidy drawers out in one room a week then aim for any cupboards in the room that way i can keep up with all the rubbish that needs to be trown away.

Well our house is all on one level so I can't start upstairs. I do strat with my feather duster on the roof and light fittings then I move onto the dusting, sweeping and mop. I have to confess that I am not very good at clearing out drawers, they are al a bit of a tip.

I can't clean the whole house at one time or I'm in pain for days! I try to do one room per day but I'm way behind. The one chore that is really difficult is vacuuming the stairway.

Hiya dragon, Maybe you could replace the stair carpet with carpet that is treated with that non staining stuff I don´t know what you call it but it is supposed to stay cleaner longer and is more easy to clean it does´nt pick up those white fluffy bits that are so annoying to clean up and they won´t go up the hoover very well either. Or maybe there is a liquid thing that you could apply to the carpet you already have and it works more or less the same. That I know to there are special stair hoovers as well where the suction is much more efficient than an ordinary hoover as their suction seems to die off the minute you change the bag and use it once or twice.

Angel, I didn't know they made special stair vacs! I'll look some up and see if it's something I can use and afford. The big thing about the stairs is the dog hair and the crap they track in, otherwise I could do it just every couple of months. It's a weekly job right now! Thanks for the suggestion!

I generally try to do it when it's actually need, sometimes I will wait for the best time. Example would be assisting my wife with picking up after the kids, we need to do this when they're settled or you can picture how we go about picking up what they've just put down over and over again. LOL It's nice to keep things down and generally tidy, although night time can be a nice time to make sure everything's fine.

I try to do the room that is the worst and go from there. Usually the worst rooms are the kitchen and the living room. It wouldn't bee too bad if the kids would help out more even little things like putting their dishes in the sink helps. Though, I try on Thursday to take care of things that need to be tossed away then especially if there's quite a bit of room in our trash cart as hubby was supposed to go thru the basement and toss stuff so I've been doing it as I have the time to spare.

I try to keep up with everything on a daily basis and then on either Friday or Saturday I do a complete cleaning. I just cleaned the entire house yesterday including the yard because someone was suppose to come and see my house because I'm selling it. However, they never showed up and now they are coming back on Tuesday. If I lived alone there would never be a problem in keeping the house clean. However, with my 4 year old granddaughter and her parents its quite hard. If I lived by myself the house would only have to be clean once a week.

Hiya lelin, When I had to sell my Flat I really had a hard time as I had to keep cleaning it too and like you say some people turn up on a different day altogether so you have to do it all over again. One of them was more interested in taking my Parrot home so go figure that one. My biggest bugbear was the windows as being in high rise windows are really hard to clean and even harder because I did´nt want to sell my flat anyway I was forced into that situation things that happen.

Hiya eileen, I am lazy too sometimes and if I think too much about Housework it will never get done so I just get in there and away I go. I have even been able to do the garden which I have not been able to access for ages because of the scaffolding they so nicely placed outside my kitchen door and it was left there for months too. The garden is not mine but I am supposed to keep it tidy what a drudge. Looking at the big bag of weeds I have out there reminds me that I can do it when I want to. Now have to do other things like cold calling people another one I don´t care much for. I´m lazier than a Cat. Cats are smart they just relax and chill out.

I actually do a combination. I use a tool called flylady.net. Her method gives each area in the house a "zone" and each week you work on a specific zone to declutter. It starts with cleaning your sink every night before bed and swishing and swiping your bathrooms daily. When you get up make your bed. Once you get on the routine, your house stays clean and it takes minimal effort. Even in a house with a 4 and 6 year old, a dog and a husband.

At least once, every six months, whether it needs it or not.

If I am really in the mood for a serious clear out then I always start at the top of the house, with the dumping ground we call the spare room. Once that's done I can move along to my partner's studio and onto our bedroom and the bathroom. Then down the first flight of stairs and into the living room and kitchen before heading down the next flight of stairs for the final push into the hall and porch. Of course that plan doesn't always come off as expected, I usually find myself getting so knackered that I stop by the time I reach the living room

after I woke up I always went into the kitchen to cook. I cooked immediately after I cleaned the kitchen and then clean the other rooms. I always start from the very back of the room in my house then to the front.

I go from the back room to the front room sometimes but here lately I have been cleaning from the front room on and can never seem to get to my room and get to all the things that need to be thrown out either!! It seems like once I finish cleaning I have to do it all over again!!I am so tired!!

For me, my biggest priority is always to keep my living room and my dining room clean because those are the two places in the house that someone that just happens to my house are likely to see. When I am able to keep the two of them clean, then I move on to the kitchen and the office which are the other two public rooms in our house. I always keep the bathroom clean and the bedrooms I don't worry about nearly as much because I don't let company into my bedroom.

For the daily thing, when I am busy, I practice the rule of "clean as you go", especially the bathroom/toilet and the kitchen (the two most important part of house for me). I also make sure that at least once or twice a week, that I could clean the whole place, the bedroom, bathroom/toilet, living room and the kitchen. And I also make sure that garbages are thrown properly. No particular or routine schedule, as long as I could keep the place clean. happy mylotting!

I’ve worked out a good roster that works well for me, it consists of chores every day and one day a week I will do big jobs and they can include bathing the pets or washing my car. Once every so often I do one room thoroughly or clean out a cupboard or drawers. It is all listed on my roster so I know that I will eventually get around to everything!

For regular, everyday housework, I make up my bed as soon as I get up. Then get my husband into his wheelchair, make his breakfast, and move on to the living room, dining room and kitchen. Bathrooms stay sparkling all the time because I really can't abide hair in the sink, dirty floors, etc. But, for cleaning closets, etc., well, this is the week for it. I usually do it twice a year.

I clean house in a mad, mad rush.I don't have any particular way or room to clean. I do try to pick up each room if it needs it every day and vaccum when the houe needs it. Dusting is not priority either. Doing other things is far better than cleaning a house.
