'what's your religion?'it is used to be such simple question to answer. But now you might be 'spiritual but not religious'-or raised in one faith but practicing another.May be you are a methodist but think of yourself more as evangelical ,or seeker who is anti -religion- or born again. The old categories don't seem to work because the religious landscape has changed. What type of person you are? just a religious or spiritual or religious but not spiritual or spiritual but not religious ..or other kind of thinking and belief..share here

The old categories still work perfectly well for me. I've been a Catholic since I was baptized when I was two months old. I grew up with that religion and recieved religious education in that area when I was a child. I have certain things about my religion that I question, but I think that it is natural that a person isn't necessarily in agreement in everything without question and that is an important part of what makes us human.

I consider my self as spiritual because I believe in God as a spirit. God is spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. I talk to God by reading my bible. The holy bible is the word of God. In the beginning was the word, and the word was made God.

Hi codeofuniverse, I think at the start, every religion was just a spiritual thought. There was an acknowledgement of nature and god who made the universe, and would be powerful enough to do anything. And that since he (or she) created everybody and everything, it was our duty to respect the rights of everybody. Its like working in Bill Gates office and respecting his relative who may accidentally be our colleague or our superior or even our assistant. Unfortunately, over the years many people added many rituals and interpretations to these pure thoughts, and over the years so many of these rituals accumulated that today we spend most of our time lost in the rituals rather than what is the core of any religion. I'd therefore classify myself as spiritual person as I do not believe in rituals and formalities.

I was raised Christen by my parents. However my mom's side of the family is Japanese Buddhist so I also had that in my life a few times a year. Growing up, I got rather confused and didn't know what I believed in. (I think almost all of us have been there at some point!) When I was old enough to choose for myself, I decided to educate myself on various religions and ideals and settled into Buddhism which isn't a religion at all. And even then, I'm rather relaxed about it. I'm definitely more spiritual than religious. I'm focused on being a better person for myself and the people around me. I want to make the world a better place. I want to help people. And I believe in turn they will one day help me. I believe my inner strength and the strength of my loved ones to get me thru.
