I think it is, maybe that is why I only had one.
As a grandparent to three, my eldest gave a comment last week to that extent. I told her i love all three, and being the oldest could she imagine what it was like to have all the hugs and kisses that she got, now shared by the three of them. She would not like to be hugged and kissed all the time. The others make it easier on her. She laughed and agreed.
My mother always said it was because the babied one needed more.

While it might be normal to some extent in some families, I think the wise parent, or grandparent, does NOT ever show favoritism. All favoritism does is breed jealousy & competitiveness in those who do not feel they are the favored ones. I didn't show favoritism in my own children, and I don't (and won't) do that with my grandchildren. Each and every child should be treated fairly, and grow with the confidence that they are loved equally as much as the other kids in the family.

I think it's but normal. When I was a kid I felt neglected because I can really notice that I am not my Mom's favorite but later on I realized that she will really like my sis more because she is cute. :-)
