Friendly sales clerks and cashiers are one of the factor to have a great shopping experience. To some shopping is one of their form of relaxation and their time to unwind from their busy and hectic schedules. Encountering unfriendly cashiers and sales clerk makes the customers feel uncomfortable and the experience of dismay, some not shop again to that store. My question to you dear mylotters, Have you ever encountered rude cashier? If yes, How did you handle the situation? Happy mylotting! ^_^

Just recently I went to boutique but it wasn't me who experienced with a rude cashier but another costumer. He simply said to the cashier, where is your manager? I want to talk to him/her about how you treat your costumers. Your actions is not good. And if I were the man I think I will talk to the cashier in a nice way, and ask her why she is so rude and if it is not effective I'll do the same thing that was done by the latter..

I always encounter rude cashiers specially in supermarkets. They have so much load of work, that is clients in front of them that they are stressed. They lose their temper easily. So I avoid foolish questions and keep my smile always. And never forget to salute them, it gives them great importance.

I agree. It's not a joke to encounter bad customers and a long day of standing and just pressing keys on the POS terminal.

Most of the time they are nice and in a good helpful mood. At least the ones in my town are. They always help me and tell me when something is 2 for 1 or buy 2 get one free etc., I may or may not know it's on sale that week. They patently wait for me to go and get another if I wanted it. The also are helpful by telling me things like the free range eggs I'm buying are more expensive than regular eggs, or they ask if I know how much the asparagus I'm buying costs. Ya, I know it's hecka expensive, but it's only once or twice a year. You could say they are getting all up and into my business, but they are just being helpful. They know I shop mainly store brand and sales, so buying a high priced food item is unusual for me.

Hi, So far, I never encounter a rude cashier before. If I really encounter a rude cashier one day, I will talk to her nicely, ask her why she behave so impolite to customer and make a complain against her/him. As a cashier,he/she should be polite and give a smile to customer instead of showing a black face and being rude to customer. Making a complain to the management is the best action,at least the manager in charge will get know about the staff's behaviour and might train their staffs to be friendly to all customers.

Yes, of course, there are rude people working with all kinds of things they shouldn't (unfortunately!) I usually do not respond to their rudeness and try to get out of there as soon as I can. Not sure if this is the best way to handle it, but it is what I do!

Oh yah big time especially maybe because when they wake up at the wrong side of the bed.I just do not know some people who has a bad day in that certain day they will carry that one almost whole day and especially to people tha t sorrounds them.Like for instance a cashier big time some of them they are rude all i will do if they are sarcastic to me i will be sarcasti also but my voice is souds like you know soft and melow but it has a great impact. Then they will just become nice to me coz some people needs to know what they are doing is not good they can affect other people. If they are angry or mad during that day why not keep it to themself and not carry it wiht them when they are not working. We are customers and we are paying customers i thingk we deserve to be treated well.

Yeah you are right sales clerk and cashier must be polite and helpful so that customer gets confident. One day went to grocery store and pick 4 pepsi 24 can cases as there was sale and everyone was excited and picking it., when i reached to cash counter i see the cashier was just punching barcode and taking money from customer but when my turn came she asked me physically to lift all cases up to counter so that she can put thank you sticker. i asked her she can give me that sticker i can fix also but she told me shutup. i did not want to make a mess so i came out. I have remembered the cashier and whenever i am finding her i am just avoiding her and hope one day i will change the store too.

I have met more rude ones than polite ones! Sometimes I respond, some times I don't. I know a cashiers job can be boring and have to listen to alot of complaints and rude shoppers, so I don't get to annoyed at it. But if they are overly rude, I will say something. I might be having a bad day too.. but I don't take it out on them! But the happy ones, I always make sure I am happy back, even if I am not happy!

Hi, karlle. Yes, I have had many shares of rude and nasty cashiers. A girl at Food Lion saw me standing at a register. And the line was very long that I was standing in. So, she saw me and came all the way from her register. She took my buggy with all of my food items in it. She wheeled the buggy all of the way to her register. She did that in a nasty and feisty way. And she did not say anything to me. I was very unhappy with her actions. I felt like if she wanted me to come to her register she should have announced that her register was opened in the store. Or she could have said that her register and the number of her register was opened with no waiting. And it would have also been respectable if she had to come and tell me, M'am, I am opened at such and such number. But she did not. So, I called her manager about this. I told him how unhappy that I was. I told him that with something like this that took place, I will stop coming to this grocery store. He said that he did not want that to happen. He feels that every customer should be treated very politely and all. This happened about four years ago. I don't see this girl at Food Lion all. I think that she had some anger issues. I have been a cashier before and I have never treated my customers nasty. I was very polite. If I was stressed, the customers would tell me to smile and to cheer up. I could never get away with treating my customers the way that I was treated by many cashiers. I have been mistreated so many times by cashiers. I know some cashiers, will not speak to me when I come into the store. But as soon as I am getting my food items rung up, I can hear this same cashier, speaking to every other customer that walks into the store. Some people don't like me for no reason. I don't bother anyone. I guess when people see my face, they just hate me. I don't know what it is about me that makes people be so rude to me. I am nothing but respectable to others, so why can't they treat me the same way as I have treated them??

For the most part, I usually encounter friendly and helpful sales clerks and cashiers. I always try to be nice back because we forget that they might have been working a long shift that day and dealt with several horrid customers. Smiling or being friendly will brighten up their day a little more. However, every once in a while, there is just one cashier that I absolutely dislike. At my local grocery store, there is this one cashier that is just too uppity. I try to ignore it, but he's been pretty rude every subsequent time he's checked out my items. Unfortunately, he's never been out and out rude, just disdainful, so I can't really make a complaint. Anyway, I just do my best to treat them respectfully and hope that I will be treated the same way.

It's really annoying to encounter rude cashiers, especially those who give you that bad glare even when you have NOT done anything wrong, LOL. Maybe they're just stressed out or even bored. It's not unusual anymore. I just keep my cool because it's not worth making things even worse.

I have encountered such rude behaviour but believe me I can be equally rude and make life miserable for that person. Infact instead of avoiding the place I make it a point to shop there more often and would keep going to the same cashier and pass some or the other remark and if she/he is rude still I would surely complain so see I am not very kind hearted always.

I'm a cashier and in our defense, we have bad days too and I can't count the number of rude customers that I've had... I can't speak for all cashiers but I try my best to keep on smiling to my customers. I know it's in my job description. But it's also really hard to bounce back after being sworn at by a customer for something we have no control over. And sometimes I'm frustrated with my boss or the crappy old machinery I work with. Yes it's no excuse for me to be rude at all! I'm just sayin, we have bad days too. However, I always apologize to a customer if I've snapped at them. It's best to end the exchange on a positive note no matter what misunderstanding took place :)

Rarely have I ever met a rude cashier except twice. First there was the one that had to announce to the world about my lady products. Then there was a short time where I had to use a EBT card (thats like food stamps) so the cashier was being condescending toward me. I just keep my cool and give these kind of people a sweet smile. The opposite of what they were going for. It always works :]

I experienced that but I didn't do anything about it. I was in a hurry and I don't have time to talk to people not worth talking to. I don't wish to argue with someone not worth it. happy mylotting to you guys!
