I hate it when I feel sleepy while travelling. Most of the time, I keep myself busy by listening to my ipod, or texting, or reading a book. I don't want to sleep in a bus especially if the bus is full or someone's seated beside me. However, if I'm alone and nobody's beside me, I sleep, but I secure my belongings very well. I know some people getting snatched while sleeping in a bus. They just find out as they awaken. This is what I hate to happen. So, as much as possible, I don't want to sleep in a bus.

I have travelled on short and long journey buses, and I have fallen asleep while riding buses before, especially the long journey ones. I seldom sleep on short journey buses, if I can help it. I can so identify with the fear of our belongings being snatched by others while we are asleep. Crimes are so rampant nowadays where people are so daring to do whatever it takes to get other peoples' belongings, even if it means harming the safety of others. That is why I prefer to travel with at least another person that I know, so that gives me the opportunity to sleep while the person can look after my belongings.

That is also one of my worries if I will sleep during travel. I don't want my things to be snatched as I can see it happening to other people. Crimes are really rampant and not choosing the place. it can happen anywhere.

I believe that's right. I also do the same thing. I try to keep myself busy so as not to sleep while travelling by bus.

I have done at times, only one time I can recall falling asleep for the whole journey and the bus driver thought I was ill because he had trouble waking me up. Thankfully he didn't call for help! That would of been embarrassing even more so. I have fell asleep for a few seconds/minutes this is something I used to do when I was younger on the way to work, although since I turned twenty I haven't experienced it much.

i dont generally ride the bus long enough for that to happen to me but my hubby used to when he worked in a large city about 40 minutes away. he rode the bus daily and pretty much fell asleep every day. sometimes the bus driver even had to wake him! he was lucky that he didnt get off til the end of the route or he would have missed his stop.

I usually sleep when riding in a bus because its usually a 4 hour ride. I secure all my things on my side and fall asleep. I can't help it, my eyes usually close on their own and before I know it I am asleep. Luckily, I wake up before my stop, Thank God for that. If I am really tired, I ask the bus conductor to wake me up before my designated bus stop. If its a few minutes of ride in the bus, I do not my best not to fall asleep. Sleeping in the bus is not the same as sleeping at night on your own bed. Although I could sleep in the bus, I still feel tired after the journey.

Without doubt, I can definitely say that I have never fallen asleep when I am using public transportation. The reason that I can be so sure about saying that is due to the fact that I've not used public transportation very frequently in my life. That said, when I was in school we used to take trips with our Beta Club and when we were on those road trips I was among the majority of people that did sleep on the bus while we were travelling.

I think you are referring to a bus traveling around the Metro. Well it is hard really to fall asleep in a bus because it is not safe. As you mentioned, snatching and robbing inside the bus is a frequent scenario. A fresh story of my friend's brother who happened to fall asleep in a bus while he is traveling from work to Commonwealth. He was awaken by the hold upper's voice with a sharp knife directed to his body. With his surprise, he was not able to fight back. Another funny story happened just recently with my boyfriend about falling asleep in a bus. My bf and I were then abound to the province for the election and since the travel is quite long, it is but natural to fall asleep. However, we were not aware that our destination was then a kilometer away. Good thing, I noticed a familiar school and realized we are going to drop soon. It was really funny because I was not even able to comb my hair and fix things up. Embarrassing experience.

I haven't ridden a bus in a very long time. I think it was probably when I was still in high school. I never fell asleep on the bus. I always worried if people would steal my things or play tricks on me. So, I always stayed awake. My sons take the bus to their schools. They fall asleep on almost every bus ride. So, they don't worry the same way I did.

hi reco, traveling in India and comparing with western countries and far east countries, some what different, neither we enjoy the scenery nor the reading, because most of the roads are damaged/spoiled by digging/by rains, only selected highways are good for traveling, and you can enjoy, mostly the buses for village routes very bad,so when ever i get in to the bus i will sleep up to the destination, have a nice day

a lot of times, especially when the trip is long. also, i use the travel to rest from point to point, that's why i sleep. regarding belongings, that doesn't bother me that much because i travel light -- usually a handcarry bag that contains all the provisions i will need during the travel and stay in a place. and handcarry bags are easy to secure as you can put it in your lap with the sling around your neck while you are sleeping. nobody will try to cut the bag from you as pulling it away will certainly wake you up.

The distances in my countries are short. So in half an hour or 45 minutes the most you can reach from north to south of the island. Besides that we have bumpy roads therefore it is very hard to fall asleep when you have to suffer all the bumps. When I am travelling on long distances abroad I don't manage to close my eyelids.

Traveling by bus always makes me dizzy that's why I tend to sleep during the journey. But I was lucky that I haven't met an accident or any untoward incident that happened while I'm asleep in a bus. Much as I don't want to sleep inside the bus but because of the long journey I really can't stop my eyes from falling into sleep. I always pray the rosary while the bus is moving and just after I say all the mysteries my eyes fell asleep all the time, maybe because of the day work in the office aside from the fact that I usually wake up early to do some chores before going to the office. The stress that I encounter within the day really takes its toll everytime.

well,i think it depends on the journey you will travel.if it's a short journey,i will enjoy the scenery passing by.as to a long journey,i will sleep a while unless i am exhausted,or i would like to talking to person who are surrounding me,or read a book,or enjoy music,or do other things instead of sleeping.

Hi, reco. I often feel sleepy while traveling because of the tight schedules of guided tours. Besides, departure time is usually fixed very early in the morning when is so peaceful and quiet that I don't want to leave the bed.
