Net running so slow

Hello friends, the internet is so slow for past three days. I am trying to comment back on the responses and respond to discussions of friends, but when I click for rating , it takes 2 minutes, next on ‘add comment’, the box opens in 2-3 minutes, next ‘post ‘ this takes 2-3 minutes. I have more than one month old pending discussions.
I am really faded up, the weather is hot, and there are frequent power failures too. I ran a virus scan too. The internet access is through the land phone via a wireless modem, I use BSNL Broadband. I talked to them; they say speed is right at their end. Now I suspect some problem in the cable to the land phone, but there is no problem in receiving and making calls. I use Internet Explorer 8 for browsing.
Do you face similar problems, what might be the reason? How you feel in such situation? How you access the internet? Which browser you use?
Please share. Happy posting, cheers.

I have a wireless internet connection, sometimes it is works relatively well and sometimes it is extremely unstable. There are times when I can only use the internet for a few minutes at a time, and that can be very frustrating, because if I am in the middle of something I often have to start over. Sometimes we can't get online at all, and then I usually leave the computer for a while and try again later. My husband and I have talked about getting a different type of internet connection, but there are some advantages about the wireless internet that I don't want to give up, and I love the fact that I can use it anywhere in the country.

I have had similar problems from time to time, and I think they may be due to the volume of traffic. However, myLot is never very quick on my system, even when it is slow, others don't seem to be arrected. Good luck, Mike.

The problem may be with the service provider of the internet, I am not facing any issues on mylot related to rating a discussion or replying discussions. Also, I am using Internet Explorer 8 and that is working great, so the problem is not at all with the browser.
Talk to your ISP to get out of this.

Personally I will never use IE. I use Opera and love it. As far as internet being slow you might want to cycle the power on your modem and make sure your not downloading anything. Myself I speed test every few days and if I am not at the speed that I am paying for then I call my provider and have someone come out and fix it cause I want the speed that I am paying for.
Hopefully you get it figured out soon cause I know how it is to have slow internet.

Which virus checker did you use and have you changed any system settings lately?
I use Firefox and have no problems, but i also have IE, Opera and my own browser installed, which i use for testing and to be honest they all run fine for me, i just prefer FF as its got less garbage attached to it and doesn't have the inherent loopholes of IE.
You might want to try deleting history and temp files.
Just reading up, if you are having frequent power failures where you are, it could be that some equipment is stuttering either within your home or out in the providers comms box, due to the powering off/on frequency. Do you know others near you who have same provider? See if they have same problem. If not ask if they can test your box on theirs.
All the best
Matt

Hi friend, i guess all of us are having a problem with the internet because of the said damages underwater that supplies internet mostly in the whole world. Although we have our own internet providers, some of the websites that we use and some huge website hosts are based on the places that are very much affected by the current internet situation problem. I just hope this end soon.

Yes, BSNL is an utter waste in terms of ISP but I accept that the rates are low. The thing with BSNL is that it is government owned and then, the modem crashes or the connection is lost many times. It responds slowly. I did not like it because of these reasons. I switched to Airtel Broadband and now, everything is great!! Well, I suggest you to use Chrome or Firefox and scan your system often so that you are assured that no ports are established on your system. If you can, Change to AIRTEL.

IE8 is no good! Especially when dealing with javascript.
Use Chrome 5.0 , Safari 4.0 or Firefox 3.6 instead.

I am pretty lucky. We seem to have a very good connection. It is also very fast here. It is rare that it goes down or goes slowly. Right now, I am using Firefox as my browser. I really like it. It seems to crash much less than IE. It is free to download. Maybe you would like to try it? I hope your connection get better.

Thankfully I've not had any problems with accessing the internet in a great long while. I did go through a period when I was pregnant with my son where I couldn't access at all for a while because our IP provider was having difficulties, but since that has been resolved we've not had problems since then. We have a cable modem with a router in our house and I use Explorer 7 for my browsing, I had Explorer 8 for a while, but it didn't work too well with my system.

It looks like you're not alone. A lot of us have been experiencing the same thing. On my end the issue is intermittent. Sometimes the connection is so good just like now but most of the time it;s really bad. I even have to disconnect and then connect my Internet again.
I'm using Wireless Broadband. It is sometimes frustrating especially if I've composed a very long response to a discussion and then just because the connection failed I will not be able to post and even retrieve that comment.
Aside from that we are also experiencing power failure here every two days for two hours. According to our electric company it is a scheduled mass black out for two hours every other day. Urgh! Is it because we have power/ energy crisis?
