I prefer this minty ointment of mine instead of oral pain relievers..it's soothing and its scent is relaxing as well and for reason it makes me sleepy afterwards..And I don't want to take much of oral medicines for usual pains I just don't want to be dependent on it..
How about you guys do which one do you prefer oral pain relievers or topical ointments???
Thanks and God Bless to all..

I prefer applying ointment than taking oral pain reliever. ointment is soothing and it helps to relieve the muscle pain. it makes me fall asleep after rubbing some ointment to my body... i am currently using Pau liniment (a local topical ointment). the heating effect breaks through the skin so it lasts longer. i am using ping on as well.. it also helps to alleviate the pain... in fact, every night i apply some balm or ointment to help me fall asleep easily..

Hello there gracie04!!!Yeah me too I love it when the heat starts to sink in my skin it's really calming.. so it became a habit of yours to apply one before going to sleep I see maybe I should try that to help me fall asleep too every night instead of drinking milk ( just kidding )..well just don't overdo it ok..

hii there
I prefer oral pain relief than oinment.when pain is too much i prefer oral medicine and when it is mild i apply oinment.Oinment takes little time to show its effect so i use it when pain is mild.these kind of thins rarely occure to me so i am not much worried about side effect.Oral and oinment both do have some kind of side effect.

I do prefer also using a minty ointment to temporarily treat a muscle pain, but of course it depends on the level of pain. First thing I do, put on a minty ointment, but if in few minutes no further improvements, then I would have no other choice but to take pain reliever and snooze. I don't want to be dependent to pills either.

Hello there assinertata!!! For me after I applied the ointment I tend to hurry up to sleep so that I will not come to the point that I can't bear the pain anymore and have no choice but to take a pill ..I think you should try my strategy too

Since the only over the counter (OTC) pain releiver I am not allergic to is Tylenol; and, that really doesn't work very well for muscle pain - I use an ointment if I do not have enough time to apply moist heat instead. But, my preferred treatment for muscle pain is moist heat when I have the time to let it work.

Hello speakeasy!! ***Urgh** it's really hard to be allergic to some medicines..and too bad if the one that you are not allergic with doesn't work well ..I never heard of moist heat for muscle pain before..I think I should give it try as well..

Our local dollar tree has blue ointment rub (has menthol) as well as generic bengay I find those are the best to use on sore muscles. I don't like to take medicine too much. Sometimes rest or stretch exercises can help sore muscles depending on where it hurts. Take care!

Hello there callarse!!! Yeah I've tried bengay as well but sometimes it's too strong that I really can't take it That's the best after applying some ointment try to have a rest and sleep..your mind and body will be relaxed and you'll feel better..
Thanks! I will! I hope you too

Hi, khaezi. Yesterday, I let my kids rub some BenGay on my neck and shoulders. I have been having neck pain for the past week. I love the cooling effect that it has upon me. If I am in extreme pain, I will take an oral pain reliever and have the ointment rubbed on my skin too. Both can work for me.

Hello there cream97!!! Yeah I also used that one before but it's really strong especially when I have applied too much....I think that is stiff neck from sleeping try to check your pillow maybe it is too high or wrongly placed..and try not to massage too much on the neck area..there are sensitive nerve parts there..
Thanks and God Bless..

I don't like taking any type of medication in pill form. I will use an ointment such as Icey Hot or Sore no More. I will rub it in real good and then cover it with either a t-shirt or Pj's if I'm going to bed. When I have a headache I fight it before I will take a pill. Thankfully I hardly ever get headaches.

Me too lelin!!! I don't want to depend on pain relievers..yeah that's my routine too..if I'm outside I try to fight it first until I get home then apply some ointment then try to sleep the pain away..
Wow you are blessed for not having too much headaches..

I use efficascent oil, liniments or ginger rubs on my muscle pains. I like the minty hot feeling as I rub it on the affected ares. If after frequent use the pain is not relieved, then I'll take a pain reliever or any mefenamic acid or consult a doctor. Something might be wrong with me.

Hello junrapmian!!Oh you have lots of reliable ointments there Yeah that minty smell is really heaven as I should say..luckily I did not come to the point where I have to go to the doctor because the pain just subsides by the next day..

Muscle pain is due to the accumulation of lactic acid in your muscles. You will feel pain because the lactic acid is built up there and not being used up. Sometimes I think that ointments are effective but I always go for oral pain relievers. The effect is not immediate but its also better then nothing. Ointments are not very effective either.

Hello there p3ks626..Oh I see so that's what causes all this pain..thanks for the information..
I think you are not really used to ointment..yeah just take pain relievers if it makes you feel more better..and try to have some rest too..

Hello there Cherwin!!! You know my mom also told me that thing that when I get older I'm more prone into all kinds of pain..you are very clever to pick those herbal medicines aside from the fact that it has no side effect it cost you less too..cool..

when there is a muscle pain, its best to apply the oinment instead of pain reliever . Because pain reliever has some side/after effects. For almost all the medicines there may be side effects. So its wise to have some knowledge about the medicine before using that product.

Hello there earninhobby..I'm really afraid of the other side effects aside from the one that I'm having everytime I take medicines orally..I agree we should be aware of a certain medicine before taking it or we may end up risking our own health..

I usually start looking for relief by using a topical cream. The one I use smells of menthol, but it also has some capsaicin (pepper) oil in it. It does make one relaxed and drowsy. If that is not effective I will take an oral pain reliever. I take quite a few vitamin and mineral supplements to help prevent soreness.

I prefer to apply an ointment like Rub A535 or one of those other minty ointmants as you put it. If the pain still occurs than I might take oral pain reliver like ibuprofe or tylenol and such.

hell0 Khaezi!
when my muscles hurt me, I never take
soem medicines or some other oinments, because
I like to cure myself the natural way, and the
only thing I do, when my muscles hurt me is
to make some massage on the place where I feel
the pain, and it really helps, because I am
already like a specialist with the massage,
I have read many books about it, and have already
much experience with it
