My laptop keyboard

Last night the net was too slow, NOW ALSO IT IS, I was working using my laptop, my son was using his computer. Usually I keep the laptop on the bed over a book. One of my twin grandsons was on my lap, suddenly he peed, he was not wearing nappies. It was like a spray on the laptop and keyboard. I had always this thing in my mind, so I have pasted thin flexible transparent sheet on the key board, there is another on the screen, it absorbs the harmful radiation from the screen and protest your eye. The sheets cost 200 here, but very much useful. I use one on the LCD monitor of my PC at home. Do you use such protectors? Any experience of some kid, cat or dog peeing on them, or accidental spilling of tea, coffee, soda, water etc? Please share. Happy posting, cheers. Prof

Somehow something happened to my laptop. Seems I'll never know, I was far away. The rough story is: it was on the bed whole night. At the morning time some water was found to be on the bed as well. maybe from a bottle nearby. The water just 'touched' the corner of the laptop, it is reported. However, laptop didn't oblige when it was powered on. And it took some time before it was known that the display and the indicator lights were not working while laptop WAS responding to the commands. It has not recovered yet. Well, that's my report. You are quite wise to use the keyboard and screen guards for it served in the situation which rarely comes!

The water that entered might have caused some internal short circuit, keeping it below a ceiling fan may help.. Thanks for the response, cheers God bless you. Prof

Hi Professor, my laptop keyboard get dirty easier before as I like to take snacks as well as drinks while working on it. It is really annoying that, no matter how careful I was, there were still food like crumbs sticking on it, and beverage spilling on it I'm glad that after using a keyboard protector I don't face such disgusting problem anymore I have another liquid crystal display filter to protect my pc screen from scaring and contamination by dusts and fingerprints. It reduces image flickering, prevents harmful light sources to minimize eyestrain and fatigue. I love this feature the most Therefore I purchased this immediately after the recommendation given by the technician from the computer shop. What's more the price was quite reasonable! Take care and happy posting!

when i went to a computer shop one time, i saw that woman buying a keyboard protector. so i told myself, one time, i will also buy one for my laptop. i know how disappointing when it happens that our laptop gets damaged. i also have little kids who always disturbs me when i am infront of this laptop. and it cannot be prevented when they bring food and drinks, accident may happen.

I can get a protector for my laptop which is cheaper here in my country. I really wanted to polish up my laptop with a beautiful skin cover, but needed to wait for more time and money so that I can buy what I want. The only people that use the laptop is me and my hubby. So far, so good, no kid is there to make fun or do some naughty stuff in our computers so I wasn't thinking yet of a cover for the monitor. But since it is still good to have an eye protector, I will heed your advice

my daughter has spilled drink on her keyboard before. The touch pad was affected by it. It has never worked perfectly since even though I got it all apart and cleaned it . I think it must have shorted something out. Luckily all else is still working. I haven't heard about radiation from LCD's before.

I do not have any such screen on keyboard or monitor of my pc. Our laptop is used by my daughter and not me. There are no children at home and my cats do not sit on our laps nor do they go near the pc or laptop. Hence I do not face this problem. We are very particular about coffee, tea or complan spilling on pc or laptop. Hence we keep them in a distance. But you cannot always predict about these things. It is better to have a screen fixed for pc or laptop.

No. I am the only one that lives here....no pets etc. So I don't have to use one. I don't eat or drink around my computer anyway.

Hi Professor! Wow~ You know I don't have any protection on my screen at all or my keyboard and I am very clumsy! I try to make sure that I don't knock my drinks onto my keyboard or my cats don't either! But, I have had quite a few "near misses"! Lucky for me they spill in the opposite direction! But, I have never thought about radiation before! I sit pretty close to the screen and never was concerned with it before! I hope I won't be sorry! I have a laptop, but it isn't up and running yet! I don't intend to have it anywhere near food or drinks or cat's, but one never really knows! What kind of transparent sheet do you use? My friend that gave me his laptop is a Staples Manager and get's all computer stuff at a discount! Staples is a store that sells office supplies! My friend that gave me the laptop is also my "computer guy" so I will discuss this with him! Thanks for the advice and I hope your computer will be ok! I would keep that little boy away from the computer just in case!lol

I have never heard of those two items but they sound very useful! I don't have a laptop only a desktop which is far more convenient for me. The items you mention sound quite expensive though and I would not be able to afford them myself. Thankfully I have not been suffering with any kind of eye strain so I'm pleased about that. Andrew

dear professor, if it were my laptop, i would probably have panicked. i never put any liquids near my computer, because i am afraid of accidental spills. the transparent sheet is very wise. i think u will not mind the cost because it is very practical to have one. thank u for this discussion, ann

I never put my laptop on the bed. I think it's risky. And bed may cover the fan hole.. I use skin protector, keyboard protector, and screen protector... and I don't put lot of money for all of this. Just 10 dollar. Sometime I get spilling of drink on my keyboard. That's way I rather protective to my laptop safety... O...and I use coolpad too, for cooling my laptop...

I have a keyboard protector because I like doing a lot of things with my laptop. I eat, sleep and even bathe with it! (haha, on the tub while watching my favorite tv series) It's really useful. It catches the crumbs from food and a few drops of liquid from my drink, or the water from my hands when I bathe and use the computer at the same time

Hello agaian dear friend , actually i own three laptops and one fix computer , and i work on the oldest of all these fours pc's that i have , and it is a portable computer the one that i am using the most , and around myself are alot of can's of coke , since i hate the bottled in plastic coca-cola , because i observed it has different tastes(this is surely because of the plastic ) ,i cann tell you that i dont use any kind of protection and i have already spilled countless times coca-cola on my laptop keyboard and i have never had a problem , apart the gluey part for a few hours and then its fades away. Have a nice evening dear friend
