Why is she being difficult in the first place? Have you ever considered that your boss might just be stressed out? Just bec. they're the boss people assume that their responsibilities end there, they just get to sit in a big, comfy office. The boss' job is to make sure that everyone finishes in time. If nobody's been doing their job, busy doing something else, who do you think gets the blame? If she is being difficult without any reason, you can report her to the higher-ups, if she is.

In the first company that I worked for I also had a biatch boss. She is your boss so you have to put up with her but that doesn't mean that you will allow her to throw you under the bus. Be assertive enough but not to the point of insubordination. Prove to her that you are good at what you are doing and that you have to be treated with respect. If that doesn't work ask the higher management if you can be assigned to another boss.

Start a nasty blog, that way you get to vent and keep your job.

I also experience that 2 years ago, one of my boss is acting as if she is the owner of the company. She has this wide eye with tiger look if she gets angry. She shouted almost everyday if she found out any mistake that we do, small or big. More employee resigned because of her and 98% of those cried because of her bad treatment. Because of my work load and I cannot carry working with her anymore I resigned 2 yrs. ago. At last I'm free from her, I did do a little work on that company last year to help my replacement but I never get the chance to talk to her, I guess she's not comfortable talking to me just as mine.
