Hi friends
Do you look at the future with a little anxiety, a little worry, etc.?
when I mean future it is not only that I mean our own future or of our family, our planet etc - everything - are you particularly anxious about the future of any particular thing?
For me I am always anxious about my family - both my wife and myself having crossed 60 age, retired and worried about the daughters' and their families' future.
But then sometimes I think that whatever happens is in our fate and cannot be changed too much and also that whatever happens or has happened is for the good; that's all.
Lets hear from you
bye

I used to be worried and anxious about the future. But now I've realised however much you worry things that are going to take place will do so irrespective of your doing so.I was worried about children's health and future but for some time now I've realised to take life as it comes.I believe in working and doing well in the present moment with the hope that future will take care of itself.

I look at my future with excitement. I always look forward in what is in store for me in the future. I know that I am still growing in my professional and personal life that is why I am looking forward on my future. Maybe I am just a bit optimistic but it is what keeps me going.

I think there are some big questions that enter my mind from time to time regarding my possible future. I try not to worry too much about what may or may not happen. I'm trying to keep my mind free of such concerns for as long as I can as I'm worried that I may walk down the road of depression once again! Everyone is talking about our planet now and how we are destroying our resources and the future doesn't look very bright from this viewpoint. I try to take each day as it comes concerning my own life, I definitely think this is a good way of doing things. Whenever a problem arises then I deal with it immediately at the time. I think the goal is mainly to be happy and free and not have to worry about anything. Andrew

Is it possible always? I for one have more depressive thoughts when I dont think of future. I spend my time imagining a rosy future. :) That keeps me in better spirits.

Why waste precious time about something you can not change? I like you Am over 60 and to me I live my future every day because today is what we have...tomorrow we never know...I love my family with all my heart and I know they will find the way to be secure and safe in this world...we gave them the know how the rest is up to them...and our planet?...well... who knows? nature will follow it's own path...and no human can stop that!...so my friend do not worry, enjoy your family, your friends and cherish today!

Hi Udayrao, that is so sweet of you. :) In my case, I think of my problems, and project the situation to a future date. And then I start looking at solutions to those problems. Therefore, I think ok - today my monthly expenses are about 15 K. I might live for another 25 years. My requirement may become six times that. So what are my sources, and how do I go about it. It then ceases to be personal. Rather it becomes more of a mathematical problem requiring some juggling. :) Of course, I dont look at it as if I am not going to make it. I always hold the attitude, worst come worst served there is this option, which is not bad by itself. :)

Actually, I dont really have any major health issues that I know of right now. So that doesnt worry me as much as my father's health does. But then, my father is the only one from his generation in our family who has never been admitted in an hospital by this age. And if it were not for diabetes, and blood pressure, which admittedly are high though not alarming, he is in perfect condition. Good for a 100! :) My problems are confined to being overweight, and having some chronic leg pains because of an accident. :) I dont think much of them at all. And what I mentioned was just an example of how I move away from the depressive thoughts. :)

Hi Vandana
Thanks for responding; mainly the anxiety I mentioned for a person in my situation would be normal, while unlike in other countries India does not have a plan for Sr citizens like social security, pension, old age security facilities, etc ( unless one is a govt employee, which unfortunately I am not!!)
And it is not only about money, what about health related and being able to cope up with it as age advances??

Hi
for a person to be 100 & with excellent health is great, really!!!
And about your overweight problems just think that you are slim etc or even picturise yourself as you want and just see the results- it is all done by the sub-conscious mind. If you have read books- pertaining to the power & use of the subconscious mind - like "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne or " of your Sub-conscious Mind" by Dr Joseph Murphy ( to name a couple of books among others) you will know what I mean. if you have not read them I suggest you get hold of them - they are worthy reading and following.
I am writing this as I also had similar problems plus very bad leg problems after a nasty fall but got through without much medications as the Doctors said that would not help at all.

The bible teaches us not to worry it will not change
a thing. I look to God, he holds tomorrow for me in
his hands. The bible also teaches he will take care
of us as he does the birds in the flied, If you know
Jesus you have no need to worry. All things work to
the good of those that love God and are called according
to his purpose.

We are trying to teach our kids about caring for the planet. Our family recycles. When everyone changes just one thing it helps. Yes it is hard not to worry. BUt actually doing "something" helps.

udayrao2 I am not looking with anxiety as I have already been through hell and survived so now all I am hoping is that my son will get a good job and accumulate some money so I can move out of this retirement center back into an apartment with my adult son.I am only here as I had no place else to go when we were evicted after my son had lost his job and could not find another. we ran out of money got behind in the rent. were homeless . now I am here at Gold Crest while my son is several miles away in a gov.sponsored apt with three other men all out of work and trying hard to get jobs.right now Im just focused on the present as that is all I can live on anyway, the past is gone, and tomorrow is yet to come.

At this moment, I'm worried about my daughter mostly, whether she would grow up with a father at all. My situation is that uncertain. I also wonder whether I would be able to survive without his financial backing if it happens that my husband and I are not together anymore. As such, I'm trying to put in place some strategies to finance myself and my daughter through online earnings. And it has to be passive income. I have to grow my passive income. I guess, we are at different stages of our lives and we worry about different things.

I do, but I didn't used to. It's just that I've had one problem after another, and I really hope that I get through my current financial problem before facing another problem. I can handle it if another problem would come to me, but of course I'd rather not have more problems right now.

Hi udayrao! I'm only in my mid-20's and even when I was younger I've always been worried of the future. We were very poor back then and it has always worried me if we still have food to eat the next day or if we still have stipend for school or if I'd be able to go to college, etc. And even until now that I already have a source of income, the future still worries me a lot. What if I'd lost my source of income? What if there's an emergency and all of my savings will be used up? I really have a lot of things to worry about the future. However, I also keep in mind that worrying about the future is not good for a person's health and mind. I mean, there are already a lot of things to worry about in the present, and it's really very exhausting to add the future into the equation. So, although it makes me anxious every now and then, I also just keep reminding myself to focus on the present instead of the future and trust that everything will be okay and everything will just fall into place :)

I try and remain positive regarding the future. Try and think that there is something wonderful just around the corner. That it will be great and there will be no problems. However, if it was only that simple. The fact is that there is plenty to be anxious about in this world. Every day, there could be new experiences that are great but at the same time, there could be new experiences that are problematic. You do have to take the bad with the good and hope that the good will balance the bad.
Still, I really hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I may be pleasantly surprised. Then again, I might be in for a rude awakening. There is just so much uncertainty for the future. Therefore, I think that it is only inevitable that I was a little anxious. Who knows what the future will bring. Hopefully it is something good but then again, it can never be certain. All I have to do is wait and see. Only time will tell.

I don't think we would be human if we didin't own up to iur fears. We all have ab amount of anxiety when considering the future. The future is uncertain. We are not always at ease with that fact.
