Hi Friends,
Here is the question arises...
Do you have the habit of going to bathroom during midnight, after having a good sleep..??
When I was in graduation, I stayed in hostel... one of my friends, use to keep alarm for going to bathroom during midnight... when i questioned him about this... he replied , "even if I didn't keep alarm, I will get up during midnight and go to bathroom..."... it became a habit....
I laughed loudly... after hearing this...
Do you have the habit of going to bathroom during midnight...??

Bathroom or toilet? anyway, is your friend going to pee or poop at that time? Peeing before going to sleep is much better than to wake up in the middle of your sleep and pee. That is why I do advice most of my friends to pee before they sleep and don't drink much water if they wanted to have a sound sleep and not be disturbed.
But i just wonder if your friend goes to the loo twice or thrice in the night because that is not good anymore. He may have a problem with his kidneys or bladder. Your friends habit is really weird specially you said he keeps an alarmer? for what.. oh boy he must have had a lot of water then he did not try to pee before he goes to bed, tsktsk, tell him to change his bad habit.

thanks for the BR Arun, I would like to add that a normal pee color is colored amber as what the doctor tells us during our seminars. He also mentioned that peeing 2 or 3 times between 1-3am is something not so good specially if your not drinking much water at those period of time... ask your friend to drink 8 glasses of water on proper timings and see if he still pees a lot during early morn...

No.Never.I sleep like a baby and never disturb myself to visit the loo after I hit my sack.Well most of the people are envious of me.And it is simply the truth.Maybe because the emptying of my bladder completely before going to bed and resolving not to wake up during my sleep to pee is helping.

I drink lots of water before going to bed. This is to help my stomach digest the food that I ate during dinner. And when I do drink lots of water, the tendency is I have to urinate even in my soundest sleep. Sometimes I felt lazy to stand up and will just think that the urge to urinate will just pass, but when I thought that I will get UTI, I will stand up once and go to the bathroom.

Most of the time I go to the bathroom and pee at midnight or early dawn. I just wake up without any alarm or anybody when I do it. It's like automatic - my body does it automatically. Then I go to sleep again like nothing happened.

Yeah, kind of. I don't know how or why. It just happens. Or sometimes I would dream that I'm at a bathroom and about to pee, then suddenly I wake up. So I never get to pee in my bed.

friend having an alarm to go to the bathroom is really funny!
i felt like going to the bathroom at midnight also but i don't have to alarm myself to it.well, sometimes there will always have a possibility for me to do that(not the alarm),but i usually wake up when i really feel like i am about to pee.
and it's usually wee hours, not midnight!

No, I don't have this habit. The reason is because I don't go to sleep until after 2 or 3 am. So, I don't need to worry about getting up in the middle of the night. I do have to get up around 6 am to go, if I had a lot of water or soda a few hours before I go to sleep. It doesn't happen all the time -- only if I drink a lot!

Yes, I do. I always drink a lot of water during the day so automatically i would pee in the evening. good thing, i don't have a hard time getting back to sleep... when we were still staying in a 2 bedroom loft type condominium before, i pee in the bedpan and clean it the next morning.. we had 1 restroom only which is located at the first floor...

I just transferred in a new apartment now. When i am in my previous apartment, i don't have a habit of going to bathroom during midnight. One reason is the bathroom is really far in my room. I am on the third floor and the bathroom is at the ground floor.Maybe even you are in my situation, you will also not be interested in going out.My second reason is there is a ghost that is roaming around in the apartment.I am not afraid with it since i already saw one before.
I am glad that with my new apartment, the bathroom is really near.it is just a few steps.but still i don't have the habit of going to the bathroom in the middle of the night.i used to do it early in the morning.

Yes - it is always advisable to go to bathroom just before going to bed. These things you have to make a habit.
An, do not drink plenty of water before bed have an average quantity.
If you take more water then it is sure that you have to get up for going to bath in the mid and can avoid this by taking average water.
Any how this being a natures call you have to atend at any time.

No definitely not having this habit. Uninterrupted quality sleep is important to me. So if possible, I would like to have a continuous sleep until it's in the morning. However, there are times when I woke up unexpectedly during mid night. If this happen, I usually go to bathroom to 'unload' and continue my sleep.
Thanks for setting up this interesting discussuion.
Happy posting and have a nice day!

I don't usually get up during night's sleep though sometimes I have to. If I get up to the bathroom, it will take me some time to fall asleep again. There were a few times that I did not enjoy my sleep after getting up. I am still glad that I don't have the babit of such.

Once a person matures beyond the bed wetting stage, their body will wake them if they have to go. An alarm shouldn't be necessary. Setting one to purposely get up and go is creating a habit that interups sleep and that is not a good thing. Usually, the older one gets, the less bladder control they have and older people may awaken to go several times during the night. If you are in your 20's thru 40, you shouldn't have this problem (normally). I suggest that if you do, avoid drinking liquids after 7pm. This should help.
