When I was in high school,I took few months to learn Judo with one of the highest dan/level master in my city.He didn't teach me much except one small secret of a special technique. Then I learned the rest from his good students.I only got a yellow belt (just one level better than a beginner),then I got injury and twist my lower hip.It forced me to quit this great sport in which I like it very much. After 10 years,I have an opportunity to learn some self-defense technique in another country because it was job related.I was a short and small guy in the class and they were ball big guys with much strength in there. Then one tall French master who knew lots of martial arts came to teach us how to flit proplr down with some Judo move.He was a nice guy and he was in his three dan black belt.He knew that I was from Asia and picked me out for demo. His intention was to show everyone that nobody could flit you down if you knew how to defense.By the down I try it,I just flit him down with the technique the old master had teach me without any problem. He was so ashamed of himself and got so embrasis because he was just flit down by a little Asian guy.He was much stronger and taller than me.What a negative demostration for him. What about you..?Anything funny to share.ha ha ha...

I was learning soccer, and I couldnt really understand the concept of it. Welll I was trying to kick the ball into the net and it ended up hitting the goalie. She was fine though. :)

Similiar story but I was on a receiving end. I took aikido since I was younger but how it started was a bit of a strange story. I hurt my legs playing outside & someone mentioned Muay Thai was good at strengthening legs. After 3 years of taking it, I went into aikido dojo & the first day, teacher asked me if I knew anything. I smirked a little & said "yeah, I know something." He smiles at me & says, "I'll give you $5 everytime you hit me." I've never spent so much time on my back. He threw me around like a rag doll. For 3 weeks after, he always picked on me as an example. I remember once, I came around with my leg, roundhouse kick, as hard as I could & he just stepped aside & nudged me. When I was looking up at him from the ground, he told me he easily could've broken my bone. After a while, he pulled me aside & told me that was to show me, or teach me, how to be humble.

I was very shy in high school. Being an athlete in sports was not big on my agenda. In gym class, I was introduced to volleyball. I really enjoyed learning to play in this sport. it was a great deal of fun. That was until i had too much of a one on one experience with a volleyball. I was waiting for the ball to be served from my team. it was taking forever. i turned around to see when the ball was coming and I was smacked in the face with the vollyeball. it literally slipped out of the server's hand and into my face. it is funny now, but not at the time. I had to go home that afternoon from school and explain to my parents how my eyeglssses had managed to snap in two. Volleyball just wasn't the same after that.

Flyfishing is a sport I guess and that's the closest I can get to memories of learning a sport. One day I went with my date to go fishing. I had never fished before. Somehow, I broke the line and she got mad at me. I wish I lived near you so I could learn that secret. With me getting older and the young punks in my city messing with old people, I need a little extra besides my boxing skills.

That was funny and fun. My experience is a little different. When I was in 5th grade, I started to play softball with my classmates. I've never played softball before, while my classmates were pros. I started out just fine by catching balls and running after the ball. After I batted, everybody wanted me out of the game. When I batted the ball, I threw the bat at the same time. The bat almost hit the pitcher.
