I haven't grown them in a few years, but they're a good squash. Not sure, but I think we called them patty pans. I still grow squashes, but just not that variety. I would cook them and use them just like any other variety of squash. Yes, I have frozen them. When I freeze any squash, I usually cook them first, or at least cook them partway. Then I'd cut them up into either slices or cubes and put them in a ziplock (freezer type) or other freezer container. I use my pre-cooked frozen squash as a mashed squash dish, or sometimes I'll use it in breads and stuff that's made with squash in it. One bread I make is zucchini bread, but I've found all the other squash I preserve works just as well, as long as it's drained after it's been frozen (otherwise there's sometimes too much liquid and it alters the recipe.) I usually have enough squash in the freezer to last all winter whether it's a squash dish,or for use in other recipes.

The only way i have used them is to slice them, roll in flour and fry them. I do the same with zuccini and crockneck. They are a summer squash.

I thought I had heard about nearly everything! I haven't heard of this variety. However, most are freezable if you bread them first; or if you cook them first. I imagine you could use it in soups and casseroles. do you have a pic?
