Does anyone know how to get algae off the glass in a fish aquarium?

I'm talking about the really stubborn, tough kind that algae eaters can't eat. I've been going at it with a scrubbing sponge for about half an hour and I just can't get some of it off. The fish have already been removed to a different aquarium, so I don't have to worry about hurting them. Any ideas?

I tried to do some research into this topic for you and it wasn't super helpful. I found there are some algae removers you can buy but that might harm the fish so I'd then wash the tank out well after using it. Mostly all I found were things to decrease the algae but not fully remove it. Types of algae eaters, things to put in the water. There were topics about preventing algae- not leaving the tank in the sun, not keeping the tank lights on all the time, changing the water often, and so on.
I know tilex (it has bleach) kills mold and mildew. Might get rid of that algae but I wouldn't risk putting the fish back in that unless you then washed it with soap and rinsed it really really good.
So yeah, sorry I couldn't find any good info.

Thanks for the effort. I'm planning to sell the fish tank, so even though I'm not putting fish back into it, it would be best if I didn't use anything that could harm the future owners' fish. So I guess my husband and I will just take turns scrubbing.
