I am a girl and I can ansawer your question from a girl's point of view. No girl will ike to get a gift card to a gym as a gift. It will make her think that her spouse thinks that she is fat or she needs to reduce some weight, which is not a good thought. It is always better to undertand what the girl needs (not by asking directy) and get that for her. A person like me will always be happy to get jewellery as gift.

Good Morning dear Newfun4x , ohh this is a tough question to answer , but i'll still give it a try. I am dating a girl its been three years now and whenever it camed the time or Gift seasons ( Like Christmas , New Year or Birhday Celebrations ) i have always been in lack of inspiration , but if you might have an ideea of what your girlfriend or wife has wished to have the rest of the year and if you have the Budget for it , i suggest that you buy that for her.When i celebrated with my girlfriend the first year of been togheter i had planned a full romantic day and evening , i've started by making reservations to a Italian restaurant , that i know she loves , and with the help of my sister i have bought rose petales and she helped me decorate our room with nice smelling canddles and Red Roses petals in the all room , i had invited my sister and her husband with us at the restaurant and its there where i gaved her , her first Gift ( a ring and gold bracellet ) not too expensive but neither too cheap , and when we camed back home she was soo suprised on how me and my sister arranged the room , and seen her how happy she is , made me feel really great about Myself.
