Do you consider Sunbaths make you healthy? How?

Tagging it with the label of healthy? Probably not. It’s more a vain attempt to look better, although a natural ‘sun-glow’ to the skin is ‘healthy’ (unless you’re naturally whiter than a sheep). A natural glow by just working in the sun/anything other than just sitting in it, you should also always use Sun tan lotion!

I respectfully disagree. THere aren't many people - at least that I know - that sun tan to look better. Many people, me included, do sun tan because it feels good. That it should be done in a balanced way goes without saying, but I don't really think that being burn to a crisp has anything to do with beauty:)

It is an interesting question to have been raised. Well, personally, it might be helpful for those who skin is too fair or white, not to someone whose skin is dark already. Too much sunshine from enjoying the sunbaths might have some bad effects to our health as it will make our skin unhealthy and can cause some skin disease. It is ok to have sunbaths once in a while, but not too often, for the sake of good health. This is my personal view only.

I actually came from Coastal area and through day and night I can hear the roaring sounds of the sea (Arabian Sea). The sea is 1 km away from my ancestral house. How far is sea coast to your town.

In countries like India, people do not take sunbath, because they get natural sunbath from sunrise to sunset. In countries where they hardly see sun, need sunbath at beaches. Thanks for your interesting response. How do you do? Havent seen you around. Hope your busy work with school is over.

Thank you for your response and your greetings. I am still busy with my work and it is just the beginning of our work. We won't stop our work till the end of January. By the way, it would be nice to go to a beach to enjoy the seaside view there as I have never been to and it is one of my dreams.

Sunbaths hurt health more than help it. Stay out for more than a few minutes and the sun will burn the top layer of skin, whether your able to see it or not. Stay out longer while the sun is at its peak could lead to skin actually blistering. Skin cancer has also been connected to people sunbathing.

I think, too much of sun tanning is not good for health and prolonged exposure to mid-sky sun could cause skin cancer. Sun tan might have become a fashion but I do not like it much. Thanks.

Dear Mimpi, You are right. I had not seen Indians taking sunbath. Because from kanyakumari to Kashmir, it is always hot near seashore most of the time during the year. In western countries, many countries they might not have seen the sunlight for months and for them looking at sun and enjoying the mild sunlight must be bringing greater joy. Thanks for our post and I agree with your point. Regards

I don't think it should be considered healthy or unhealthy. As with everything balance is the key. Laying down in the sun feels good. Laying down in the sun for many hours and without sun block not only doesn't feel that good anymore but can be quite foolish/dangerous. I like to enjoy a sun bath specially after coming from a swim - hopefully in the ocean , but I guess a lake or even a swimming pool will do :) -. The sun warming me up feels good and it's certainly not harming me. After I'm dry and warmed up, I won't be able to stay sunbathing for long. Either I go back swimming again, or leave. I lived in quite a few different countries but always by the ocean and close to wonderful beaches. But in this matter I feel that Portugal was the best one, because the beach if often fringed by a nice pine or eucalyptus forest so people usually go to the beach, early in the morning, have a great time and then just before noon when the sun is really at its worst then people pack up and go for a picnic under the pine trees and away from the sun. Balance... it is important:)

Hi! Well, I think we need to be in the sun to some degree since we do gain nutrients from the sun (vitamin D). I also think too much exposure to the sun is bad. I've already had a bad sunburn, so I have to be really careful about being in the sun. :-)

yes, i have seen many people taking a sun bath.it is really healthy to take sunbath particularly in the light morning sun mainly because you get vitamind which are present in sunrays in ample. Moreover, your body also is getting warm and thus allowing your blood veins to slightly expand and give you the healthy feeling.

Sun bath is good for those are in tundra region. They rarely get enough sunlight to generate vitmin D in their body. Those who live in tropical region sun bath is not needed. They are aways exposed to sun other than during night.

I am a science student i'll tell u the reason. Going out in the sun is to an extent good for health because sun's rays contain vitamin D which is good for skin. but prolonged exposure to the sun will increase the formation of melanin in ur body which makes the skin darker. also the ultraviolet rays will damage much of ur body cells in the dermis mostly. Equatorial countries like africa recieve sun's rays straight approx at 90 degrees so melanin production in their body is much more as compared to people in tropical and polar countries. so going out in the sun is good but not for long.
