Okay so I decided that I was going to drink my last soda for a very long time... not because of the fact that it is bad for you.. but because I have noticed when I drink them I feel fatter than I already am... bt I seriously think it's going to kill me... when I was in high school I went all 4 years without drinkin anything carbonated (aside from a lil alcohol after football games) but when I got with my husband my senior year he conviced me to drink them because it was cheaper for him to buy just soda rather than soda and lemonade.. dork... and of course I listened.. So here I am 4 years down the road and I am trying to stop again but I think I might die.. I am horrible about if it is in the house I will drink it and then if it isn't in the house i crave it to the point that I get rather cranky... what do I do.. do yall have any similar problems...

Well I can't honestly believe that soda is going to kill you.. but I have given up soda, and it isn't really very easy. There might be something addictive in it, lol.
My suggestion is to quit cold turkey, and deal with the withdrawal symptoms. It will get easier in time. Just make sure that once you stop with soda, you never touch another one again, because having one makes you want more! I found that out the hard way.

I stopped drinking sodas last fall because it was cheaper to drink water then soda. It wasn't all that difficult to stop drinking sodas. Maybe it's the sugar you crave in the soda. After I stopped drinking sodas it made a big difference in my grocery bill.

Do you think you are addicted to the sugar? Or do you drink diet soda? The chemicals in soda should make you want to stop; but as with any addiction, it's going to be tough.
Spruce up with your water for awhile; add half Kool-aid or lemons, etc for awhile until you get used to drinking only water again.
Switching to green tea with honey (FAIR TRADE AND ORGANIC)would be even better for you!

First you should tell every one in your house that you will be cranky and to just kind of ignore you. Second thing I would do is try buying those carbonated flavored water bottles because they almost taste like soda. Good luck with dealing with your problem

hi lillybelledaisyrose. as a diabetic of long standing, I do not drink sodas of any kind unless diet , and not many of those, I have thought about keeping one can of the sugary soda in case of low blood sugar but I just do not think that these are good for a person at all. I have now been staying away from diet sodas too ,too many chemicals in them. rather have a can of v8 juice as that is good for you and V8 splash has a lot of good fruits and vegetable choices too. water is my favorite stand by to keep me hydrated and keep me not piecing between meals either. You sound like you are addicted to sugar. also you should be checked to be su re you do not have diabetes, everyone should be checked at least once every year as so many times there are not that many symtoms and those that are most prevalent are often mistaken for other causes, having to pee a lot all the time, being horribly thirsty. eyes blurring, needles and pins feeling in your feet, sweating when its not hot all symptoms of high blood sugar and diabetes.

I like flavored bottled water and, fortunately, they have good ones with no carbs so they don't put weight on you. Giving up soda is easier if you have something else to drink that you like just as well. I don't like plain water so, if that was my only other option, I would be miserable.

I've tried giving up soda it doesn't last very long, I've gone a few months at the most without soda, and it was hard. At first I got horrible headaches, (caffeine withdrawal). I try to have only a couple of sodas a week, and I'm fine with that. I also make sure I drink a lot of water as well. A friend of mine quit drinking soda for like 4 or 5 years, I was proud of her.
