I often ruin my headophones within a short amount of time. Maybe a wekk or two. Andmy digital music teacher (oh, yeah, freaking sewwt course) said it may have something to do with the way I'm taking my headpohones out of my IPod. Is this true? Can I ruin the connortors in the headphone when I dont remove them properly or take them out/put them back in too much? How can I eliminate this distress?
Or am I hurting my IPod instead?

I was having the same problem as you , and your digital music proffessor was right about it , at least i also broken and had to change for three times my headphone set , and i said that i had the problem because the last time it broked , it broked also the entry where i put in the jack for the headphones , so bye bye ipod , anyhow ever sice , i decided it to screw it and not spend any of my money on these rubish , and that made me see that i am not as addicted as i fought i was after ipod , after all i cann listen music verry well in my car or on my laptop or on my mobile phone , an ipod was really an accesorry that i really din't need it.
Have a nice evening dear friend

darn, that sucks supremely. I'm certainly thinking it's all y IPod since I got brand new headphones and the same thing is happening. What can I do to help prevent all of this? It's quite frustrating!
I wouldn't say Im addicted to music or my IPod at all. In fact I could liv without it. I just choose not to. I use it when I dance and/or teach dance. It also helps me block out the world when Im on mylot (my computer dosnt currently have music on it) or doing hmwrk at school or in the busy and noisy caf at lunch.
It truly is an accessory, an expensive one, that isnt needed but is fairly useful in my opinion.
thanks for the great response and happy mylotting. :)
