What does this verse mean to you? Is it a guideline for how we are to think? Does it tell us what thoughts to NOT allow into our mind? I think that this is true, that it is a way to keep our minds, hearts, and tongue from thinking, feeling, and saying things that do not glorify God. What is your view? Do you have other verses to support your view?

Your understanding of the verse is on target. I also like The Armour of God to protect our hearts and bodies.

That is a very good passage also. Galatians, right? I love these verses, they humble me yet give me hope at the same time.

Galations was written by Paul defining faith. The Armour of God that protects us from the world is Eph 6:10-17. Ephesions also gives us guidelines to living our new life and how to treat each other.

Whoops. I guess I should have looked before writing that :embarrassed:
Thanks for the correction though - I probably won't forget it now!

This verse guides us in what we should allow to occupy our minds. It's so easy to dwell on the bad thing, the disappointments, the anger, the resentment, the fear, the bad news. But this verse is telling us that what we SHOULD be thinking on [or dwelling on, or focusing on] are the things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy.
In short, it's saying "think positive thoughts."

The verse conveys a message that all the things mentioned therein you cannot do without the help of Christ.
