Remember Faust, the character created by Christopher Marlowe? If I recall right, he sold his soul to the devil for an earthly gain, like power.
Well, someone in charge of the May 10 elections exasperatingly sighed All of them in the Comelec are crooks. They would do anything to get more money for themselves. And they do not stop there. They have to know how much the other had earned and they have to top that.
The politicians, all of them incredibly wealthy, would not rest either. You see their names during elections but not even a shadow for the next three years. Those who chose to remain blatantly steal from the people. They just hide under the cover of Show me your evidence. And the burden is on the people again.
These people own majestic mansions in heavily secured subdivisions and equally massive rest houses at the outskirts of the capital region. They own spotless and shiny 4 by 4's, 1 for each day of the week, not including their families.
Someone quipped, like Faust, the have sold themselves to the devil!

At some point, yes I agree with you. But generally speaking, most of us people were not actually aware that even those that has nothing to do with politics, like us, somehow sold ourselves to the devil.
As long as we keep on doing things "our own way" and don't totally surrender to Christ as our LORD and accept HIM as our personal savior, we're still standing our grounds with the enemy, the devil.
This is the reason why I cannot blame anybody including these so called corrupt politician because anyone will do exactly what they are doing unless they have a genuine fear of GOD. And I also want all of us to be reminded that nowhere in the BIBLE you can read...'money is the root of all evil'. Money is a tool from God for a man to experience His abundance and the fullness of HIS blessings. GOD also use money for human's convenience...that's why money is not the root of all evil. The BIBLE says, ...for the LOVE of MONEY is the root of all evil.
All of us need to understand that the root cause of all of these things happening to the human race is the curse brought by sin that all of us somehow are enjoying to bathe with. And the only thing that will break this curse is to have a total 180 degrees turn against it, and decide to have this what we call "metanoia", meaning total repentance from sins, and acceptance that we are all sinners, and complete surrendering to GOD.

politic is a kind of religion that even the worshipers of that religion never know that they are in a cult. their policy is just to enrich themselves before they go out of power. so they use every means to enrich their pockets and their family. I pity the voters cos, I don't VOTE for no politician....

I agree with you. It pains me, and it saddens me that all the time these people have built political families, you never get to see a newbie - someone who is sincere in his public work and service in this country. Everyone is more busy thinking of a catchy slogan, songs, jingles, and whatsoever that would have their names stick to our minds... but none of their works as a public servant. Don't you think this is irritating to see that they built names and has tagged themselves as this and that... but we are not sure of who they really are as a person.
It is true that what they have are shiny different cars parked in their mansion houses, body guards, kids who studies in international schools - abroad even... all from the pockets of us, poor employees whose tax are deducted even before we see the computation. Haven't these people got minds, or hearts to feel sorry for the voters, for the youth who trusted them? I'd say no. They all seem to have common denominator and that is GREED, hunger for power, fame, worldly wealth that for sure... only the devil provides. I think they have not only sold their own souls, they could have put their familie's soul and the next generation there after on the line.

You hit the bullseye with this one. I totally agree with you on this one. These people who are in power, who doesn't care who they stepped on as long as they get what they want, have really sold themselves to the devil. They have exchanged their morals for something that they won't be able to take with them when they pass away. I just hope that they see this before it's too late.

I think it's the same here [u.s.a.] to. All of the politicians should have to know what it is to work for a living instead of being born with that silver spoon in their mouth.

Well probably Vote wisely. I go for ... for he has a good reputation and family background though he hasn't done anything yet. (like what they have said) well I am looking forward to it. They are involving him to the said farm when his share is just like a piece of cherry in a whole cake. Lets say I am going to vote for a lesser evil.

Politics make us all sigh and taxes are a really heavy burden. It is pretty much the same everywhere, I am afraid.

hi I have read discussions from others about the political situation in the Phillippines and think its atrocious that these wealthy poliiticans are so removed and uncaring from the ordinary Filipino on the street.
You need people in office who do know what the lot is of the common
Filipino citzen and will work to better the lives of all the Filipino
people. yes indeed they could well have sold out to the Devil as surely God is not behind these cruel heartless politicians.hope that the election will bring in some more caring people who know what the ordinary citizens of the Phillippines want and need the most.

hi eileenleyva,
How can I forget Dr. Faustus by Christopher Marlowe? I studied Christopher Marlowe and his Dr. Faustus when I was in college and I was horrible at what happened at the end of the story. It is true, there are lots of Dr. Faustus living not only in our country but in other country as well. People get blind because of their selfish ambition. For them, money makes the world go round and I wonder I they still have God or they prefer money and power over the Creator. Politicians, I will not generalize them we all know that some of them is not qualified to be a candidate for presidency. How come some presidentiable can still have the nerves to tell the people that he had been good during his leadership if we all know that he was impeached because of what his doing is? His telling he had done this or that and pointing fingers on some officials also while he cannot see the big mud on his face. How can some presidentiables tell that they are the one who can improve the country and remove the corruption if they were not giving any justice for the people working on their hacienda? In fact, that candidate had not passed any laws. I wonder what he had done in serving the country. I agree with all you said and indeed, politics for me is very dirty. Some people engaging in it are hypocrites, liars, conceited and very selfish.
