Have you ever encountered any celebrities in malls, restaurants or shopping center? How do you react when you see them? I normally see actors and actresses (even singers) when I go to the mall. When I was a kid, I see people having pictures with them in the middle of the mall. But even though I sometimes encounter them, I don't really go up to them to ask for a signature or something. But of course, if I see foreign artists, especially those that I love, I'd definitely ask to have a picture with them :)

That is nice that your city still hire people who are seventy one years old. I thought seventy one year old people are senior citizens who are retired and just stay at home playing with their grandchildren. How many children and grandchildren do you have?

I haven't myself yet, so I know if I did, I'd be a little shocked at first. But the one reason I do not envy celebrities is because they have no private life...so if I did see one, I'd leave it be, allow them to go about their business, and even send a little prayer up above to keep them safe and sane another day!
The chances of me running into a celebrity are pretty slim. I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio, so the biggest two things related to celebrities here are that Nick Lachey and George Clooney are from here. I think Katie Holmes might be, too, if I'm thinking correctly. However, going through my grandma's photo albums, there's all sorts of pictures of my uncle with celebrities. He's good friends with Elton John as he didn't miss a concert in twenty years, and finally the staff pulled him back to meet with Elton after realizing this. They're good friends, and my uncle even bought one of Elton John's concert costumes and has it on display right at his front door in his condo in Boston. He often sees celebrities up near Boston and New York, then tells us back in Ohio. It's pretty interesting.

I've seen quite a few. If I'm at the mall or something I will ignore them as I ignore other strangers. They have a right to go about their business without being hounded by a bunch of drooling fans. If I have a reason to talk to them, I will. They are people just like everyone else. To ignore someone when there is a reason to talk to them is just as rude as hounding them or trying to touch them or get their autograph.
I don't watch TV more than a few hours a month, so I really wouldn't recognize most stars. One of the people here on myLot made a movie quiz on facebook. I got 2 right just by guessing. I hadn't a clue as to any of the answers. That's really bad when I didn't know one single answer.
My favorite star is long gone. Lucille Ball. She was something to behold. I think she was and probably still is the most talented women in show business. Even if she was alive (and she's not) and I ran into her in public (impossible), I still wouldn't invade her privacy. I might inadvertently stare and gape at her (I'm human and she's a goddess), but I wouldn't bother her. Lucille Ball is probably the only performer who I really admire. She rocks!
Regarding pictures: If there is a reason for the picture, such as some activity or award or photo opp, I will be polite and pose with them, but not just to have a picture with a "celebrity". I posed with the San Francisco mayor once with my neighborhood watch group. We were getting an award for our work of keeping our streets safe and it was photographed for prosperity. I've had a few incidents like that were I'm photographed with some mini celebrity because of my work.
Now if they are at a table signing their books where they are out to meet the public, I might stand in line to get a book signed. That is if I liked their work enough to want to buy a hard cover book. I usually buy second hand paperbacks because they are much cheaper. I can get 20 books for the price of one new hardcover.

Not too many celebrities come to my hometown, but I doubt that it would make any difference to me. I've never been awed to people.

I have never seen any celebrities. Where I live there aren't very many. Sometimes I hear of one in town to shoot a movie but I have never seen them. One time we went to a play in New York, and there was supposed to be someone famous in the audience, but I never saw him. If I did see one, I wouldn't ask for an autograph, or even go up to them. I think they deserve some privacy also.

No, I never had this chance earlier but I am looking forward to that one chance when my favorite celebrity is available next to me and I can ask for autograph and a picture together. I remember shooting of a movie that I could witness but there was no actor or actress that time, it was a comedy scene being taken.
I would love to meet Amitabh Bacchan and the junior bacchan bahu :)

Yes, I’ve seen celebrity film stars in the public…I’ve even watched them during outdoor shoots. My previous office was in an area which was famous for aristocratic houses hired by studio for shooting films…more often than not, we’d see entire units landing up at the nearby footpaths and the shoot would continue throughout the day! Initially it was just fun watching them do the same thing again and again but after some time, it just became very commonplace. In any case, I never went up to any of them for autographs or whatever…I feel they already have a huge ego and I don’t want to inflate it further.

Here in our country, what I noticed was, whenever people see artists on the mall, of course they stare at them, and make side comments on how the artist look in person. Me too, I look at them also, but I have not seen people asking to take pictures with them. Yes, this is for sure. I have not encountered any people did this. Even if the artist is indeed famous.

I agree! Most poeple, when they see celebrities, make comments (both good and bad). And sometimes, these celebrities hear these comments! But of course, they are used to it and just ignore it.

I have seen a few in my lifetime. But have not gone up to them and asked for pictures and/or autograph. The last person of some notoriety I seen was Sick Puppies and they were there to sign for those who wanted. I was happy just to tell them nice job. I don't want to intrude upon their personal time I would feel like I was being rude. Yes they are on the movie screens, or albums etc. but they are just people like you and I. And as someone previously posted I think that they do appreciate and respect ones they encounter who do not treat them any different. However I will have to admit there are a couple of so called Celebes's that I would love to chat with :). But it is their views on the outside world events that intrigue me.

Unfortunately for them, once they get the 'celebrity' tag, they effectively lose hold of their privacy. I suspect there are some who just love being recognised even though they may protest and complain. I dont think you can sell your story/pictures to the likes of Hello magazine for mega bucks and then start whining about lack of privacy. I really cannot grasp why people want to spend their hard-earned cash on glossy magazines full of stuff about someone elses private life

I work in the building of the country's biggest network so I do see some celebrities every once in a while. On Sunday noon time, I saw the little girl who played the young Agua Bendita. :) I rarely feel the urge to have their picture taken but I wanted so badly to take hers because she was just sooooo adorable. I didn't approach her though. Except for when I was a little girl and they shot Estudyante Blues in the school next to our house, I haven't asked for any celebrity's autograph or picture. Not even when Gerard Anderson was right next to me in the queue for the ATM. hays. hehe. :)

There are so many artist from our city, we tend to not to much care about them if we meet the in the mall. That is why so many artist love to have vacation to our town because no one will bother them. Few year ago I am using public transportation with famous singer but no one seem to care.

Living in a place where celebrities reside is really cool! I live in a condo near the two TV stations here in the Philippines. There are a lot of starters who live here. I see them in the lobby sometimes but I don't really rush up to them.

I've seen some celebrities at the Mall, and my reaction was to look at them very very closely so that i can see and tell them if they are really just like in the television, because sometimes they are fat on TV but they are really not that on personal appearance..that is why i want to see them very closely.lolz.but i think i never even saw foreign actor or actresses but it that happened maybe i will take a picture from them or even the stolen shot one..

haha, celebrities look fat on TV in general. I heard that they look like 10 lbs more than their normal weight. I don't know why. Maybe it's because of the screen?

I often see celebrities actually in my day to day work - i work for a tv network and celebrities are like our co- employees. :D he he well if there is really big star we would actually ask them for pictures, those stars that are new - they are just like common people in our work place and you see them often so its like no big deal. :)

I served some.
Mainly related to Football but I have come across musicians, actors and millionaires. The most famous name that I've come across was a football manager Sven Goran Erickson and I served him as a waiter when he used to dine at the place I worked. I spoke to him several times, as I support the club he was with at the time. This might not mean anything to you :)
Another name would be Jools Holland who stayed at the hotel at the side of our restaurant.

Hi there pierrella!
I often see celebrities around. I do not find that unusual because I have lived in places where they are a common sight. Even while on travel abroad and I get to see celebrities, I do not act differently. To some extent, I am happy to see them but I do not go up to them to ask for their signature neither do I do up to them to ask to have a picture with them. If ever I end up in pictures with some celebrities in it, it is probably because they were invited in a party where I was also invited.

The closest that I've ever came in my life to seeing a celebrity when I was out in public was when I was a senior in high school and we were on our spring break in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We were taking a day trip from Fort Lauderdale down to the Florida keys and while we were passing through Miami we saw Whoopi Goldberg driving in a car next to us. Of course we weren't able to stop her and take pictures with her, but it was a neat experience none the less.

I saw celebrity in public places few times only. I didn't come up to them at all cause I know that that is their private moments but when they are at stage performing I just watch them. I'm too shy to ask a picture with them, although I really wish I can take picture with them.

I live in a small city so I have rery few such opportunities. However even though I once encounter a celebrity I would not be so excited. It goes without saying that asking celebrity for a signature or something else is a kind of thing young man likes to do.I am an old man.
