I remember these words came out from a priest here in our place who celebrates the anticipated mass every Saturday evening. If I remember it right he was talking about God's love for humankind, then relating it to love that abounds in people's relationships. It was the first time that I heard that statement and it somehow amused me and it let me ponder on it when I got home. I think it refers to true love that exists among people - in all relationships - and of course, of the greatest love ever - God's love.
What's your reaction to this statement?

Hi,
My personal belief is that there is no good reason for a person to love another person without actually knowing the God first. If you love everyone equally, it is love, but if you have preferences and partiality, it is not love at all. It is desire and attachment, nothing else. The first duty of a man should be to learn himself, and learn that well. Desire confuses our minds and makes us blind. Lust and greed are rather darker parts of our minds, and one should identify it clearly so that no confusion arises between love and desire. A true love goes beyond all expectations, and it necessarily starts from God. If you want to love mankind, first start by loving yourself and then try to find the relationship you bear with God. The love for God at this point will be born inside you. God is the creator of human beings, so in a sense he is the supreme accumulation of all human qualities. So true love, whether it is for other person or for mankind as a whole must start by having this love and faith in God. If we start seeking the complete, you will reach the path towards completeness. If we start seeking the incomplete and imperfect, we will only bring pain and sufferings for us.
Thanks
God bless you

Love is a very complex emotion. it has so many levels. I don'rt know thay love is really blind. I do believe that love does guide the way. Wwe can see things in loved ones that other people may ignore. It is our love and caaring for that person that makes this possible. We all have the ability. We just have to learn to use it wisely.

I think love can see what others cannot simply because when you love someone, you are determined to find good things about him or her. However, I think it's also true that sometimes love is blind because some people shut their eyes to the bad attitude of their loved ones.

Yea, I also don't really think that love is blind. What the others cannot see, the lovers will see and understand it really soon. But actually when we see it through the other people's point of view, then we may say that love is blind because usually teh ones who are in deep love don't think anything and do everything, like at times if they parents don't agree their love, they die and so they do other many stuff. So, according to this, people say that love is blind. But yea, as for me, love isn't blind. In love, yea we all do whatever comes to our mind. But yea, we understand and then go for it.

love is not blind but it makes the person who is in love blind.when a person falls in love he thinks he is the most happiest person in the whole world but it is just matter of few days or moments that he will realize that he is the most unluckiest person in the whole world.love make us see things illogically.we fall prey to a trap which is hard to escape.maybe i am wrong.maybe i am being too much negative.the reason may be because i am a victim of love.i guess what i have said is not always true.but i should start seeing things in a more positive manner.what i have talked about right now is human-human love relationship.when we talk about god's love its the most special one.you will never be let down by god.he's simply the best.

Yes, I agree with you. The love that the priest refers to is the unconditional love that God has for his people. It is this unconditional love that sees what others cannot see, because it is not biased. When we are biased, we tend to see only the bad or the good side of a person, which makes us blind to the other good or bad qualities of this person.

Love is not blind! Love sees but not with the eyes as the eyes get easily blinded. Love sees but not with the heart as the heart gets easily clouded with emotions. Love sees but not with the brain as the brain gets easily lost with worldly affairs. Love sees but not from hearing as it gets easily misled by gossips and lies. Love sees but not from smell as it gets easily overpowered. Love sees but not by touch as it gets easily lost by seduction. Love is not blind, it sees from a tiny spark that dwells in the realm of conscience.
