Hi guys! Anyone using winzip? I downloaded Winzip for free. It is very useful in my work. Unfortunately, it is for a limited period. My friend told me that I have to buy Winzip instead. I don't know how much it will cost me but I don't have a budget for that, not to mention that I am still new with my work so I don't think it is practical to invest on it. Can I just download it again and again after the period lapses?

Hi,
It doesn't work that way. They are fully aware of how you are gonna use their product. They are even aware of all the possible ways a user may exploit it. So when you install the application, some hidden files are planted in your system. Even if you uninstall the application and remove the folder, a few things stay. These files are checked each time you reinstall the software. Now, there is a better solution for this problem. You download winrar now. Winrar does the same thing as winzip, only its much better than winzip. It has two options to compress, one with .zip format and another with .rar extension. It of course bugs you with a message once the trial period is over, but it doesn't stop functioning. There are other compressors like 7zip, that zips the file almost to half its size.
Thanks
God bless you

You are right but if when uninstalling the application you remove any winzip key from windows registry you can reinstall winzip and have all the trial period again for free. That way winzip will never know that ever existed a previous installation.
But your 7zip recommendation is in fact way much better than using winzip or winrar.

Hey joanick27,
I found a download of an older version of win zip that doesn't have an evaluation period! http://tinyurl.com/2do6yg2

Really it doesn't have a period? With all these suggestions I am now so confused. But this is a good thing!

Why do you get worried for silly things like this? Yes, of course even after the trial period you will able to use WinRar or WinZip. Just ignore them when they display some kind of trial-period-over message. I personally prefer WinRar over WinZip.

.7z is the one of the best. but you need a good computer to get good compression rate

Forget about winzip or winrar, if you don't want to pay for a compression software use a free option, there are a lot of them, I can recommend you a software called Izarc, see here:
http://izarc.en.softonic.com
Whith it you can manage files such as ZIP, RAR, 7ZIP and many other compressed files, and totally free, there are more options for free if you search a little...
Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into it. I never thought that there are other compressors. Maybe having these variations will offer me better choice. Thanks again.

You can't do that. The program will "mark" your computer after installation and then "mark" it again after your trial time is over. If you reinstall it again, WinZip still "sealed" because it recognizes your computer. Try WinRar for more support and it's compression efficiency is larger than WinZip.
