Why people are not contented of what they already have?

I always notice that when a person get something what he wants, then he will ask for more and more and more. Why people aren`t contented on the things that they have? I have a simple life, yet, I enjoy it and I do not ask for more. As long as I am happy and I follow the rules of life, then I think I have everything.

It's very true. Alot of people are never satisfied. I think it has alot to do with not appreciating what it is that they already have. I think it's great that you are able to be content with what you have already. That is the secret to happiness! I too am thankful for all that I have and if I am able to get more then that is truly a blessing and I always approach it as one! Have a wonderful weekend

Perhaps you had very wise parents who taught you to be content early in life with what you have. I think some people never outgrow that "give me, give me" thing they developed in childhood. Parents want their children to have more than they had, so they buy them every new toy on the market. Kid breaks the stuff, they buy them more, etc.etc.etc. Maybe people are looking in the wrong place for happiness and think that the more they have, the happier they will be. So nice to know that the simple things in life make for real peace and contentment. The things you really want, that you work really hard for, seem to make you happiest---you accomplished something---satisfaction is real. Seems when people are given so much, they just don't appreciate like they should.

good for you friend. i think its just human weakness. unless we sit down and list all that makes us happy we just are not satisfied and dont see what we really dont need. i have that in mind at times also. just a while ago i was thinking how sad iam about not having certain things. then..i saw a discussion here about what makes me happy and during my response, i realise, i have so much and should be very happy shame on me. but i just think its a human thing most times.

It's natural that man can never be satisfied. Satisfaction never ends. When you get something you like, you start to look after another. I don't see anything wrong with that. It's part of growing, improving and not being a mediocre. However, satisfaction is different from contentment. I may always want something more but it wouldn't mean that I'm not happy with what I have. If there's something I always try not to forget, that would be the persons who are dear to me. For all the things that I do and accomplishments that I'm looking at, they will always be my fuel for moving.

Do you really want to be content??? Nothing to achieve,no challenge to overcome, no knowledge just at the edge of your grasp or understanding. Of course, one should never be greedy for material possessions. There are much better things to want!!

Most of the time, people are like that. It's human nature that we will never be contented. Don't get me wrong but i don't believe you're contented. No matter how you say you are i just find it hard to believe you.

Some people judge success with what they can see such as materialistic articles. If I can buy then I have reinforcements or proof that i am successful in other peoples eyes. The there are those that just want to want. Always after bigger and better things as a game to see if they can get it that mean absolutely nothing to them. I am happy with what i have and yes, of course, I want more, too but in time. I cannot fret on what I do not have because life will just pass you and sometimes tomorrow never comes. One of our friends passed way a couple of days ago and you think about how life can just escape you without a warning,. Worrying about your wants versus needs is using useless energy that could be spent elsewhere more productively.
