now i know this isnt about my religion but im curious anyways so i figured i would ask. if your job was to be the executioner at death sentences to murderers and etc would that be the same as the sin of "killing" some one? i mean your not doing it on you own as far as you just picked some one to kill but yet you are ending their life..
do you think that in certain religions that they would be considered murderers and therefore not eligible to be saved? even though it is their job that everyone has agreed on their punishment?

Hiya! Very interesting thought! But all I really know is that we cannot judge who goes to heaven, and who goes to hell.
God alone knows that on his judgment day. All we need to do is prepare for that, because his coming will be like " a thief in the night".

Well it would depend on a lot of things, quite a few Christian religions do not believe in most people going to heaven, rather that Earth will be turned into a paradise where we will live for ever.
Now, will these executioners be saved, through their actions, it would depend on a number of things, such as the guilt of the person being executed, Mosaic Law, that is the law laid out in Exodus, tells of various crimes and their appropriate punishments, now, that law has been fulfilled, by the Birth of Jesus Christ, so some of them are not applicable, for instance, you no longer need to sacrifice animals to atone for your sins, rather, you repent, that is acknowledge what you did is wrong, be sorry about it, confess to the Lord your God, Try your best to not do it again, and endure to the end.
So, if they accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior, and have been baptized as he commands, and live the gospel in all other parts of their life, then chances are they will be saved as well.
With Appreciation.

moonlitmagikchild,
In the first place, executioners do not kill on their own accord or for their own gratification. They are just performing their job where they are hired for, to help mete out the capital punishments as required by the law.
Doing one's job will not and never affect our salvation or get our salvation taken away. So, I do believe that as long as any one accepts and have faith in God, nothing can affect the relationship between men and God or have God's promise taken away.
"For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works." - Titus 2:11-14.

so in another words because its not the executioner not just choosing and killing for no reason but doing his job then he should not be considered a murderer etc

in our catholic faith they are really murderers but we also have a thing called forgiveness given after each confession. sometimes there is no choice as one's job entails this and many lives depend on, not just the salary of the one who does the execution, but the safety of the majority of the public is at stake. we cannot downplay the ways of professional criminals. i know my response might start a debate and i thought twice about responding here but i just want to share that it is not, sometimes, what one does that one should be judged on but the result of what one does that is the measurement of one's usefulness to society and thus results to his importance as a person.

Hi,
I think whether they go to heaven or not has really nothing to do with their being executioners. An executioner is quite detached from the execution as he himself is not doing it voluntarily. Murder must have motives, even the serial killers and craziest of murderers have definite motives behind their deeds. Nothing motivates an executioner in killing people. He does it by order of law and that makes him totally clean. But if he is not detached enough and seem to find pleasure or irritation in what he is doing, the things become totally different. A tormented soul is equivalent a soul being punished in hell for its sins. When he is taking pleasure in killing it becomes a sin, also when he is being irresponsible in doing whatever his job is, he is guilty. The only way is to get detached, and stay detached, and then surrender oneself to God.
Thanks
God bless you

I think they will. If they are true Christians, they will not be in that position to kill people. Even though they are criminals, the things is that they are still humans that you are killing, how in this world can you say that it is your job! Quit and find another one, Christian.

I dont know if you remember when God said to NOT JUDGE IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE JUDGED , so my opinion is that the one that harms a human been and interfere in he's regular life spawn by killing it , he will surely not go to heaven dear friend , since its not in no ones power to decide the life of a human been , i agree with improsining them for life and isolate thos dangerous person from any kind o human contact , i wont even allow him to see he's familly members ( the dangerous killers ) rather then take a human life , because afterall , no matter what in the end he is a HUMAN BEEN too and we should not have the power to toy with someones life like that.
Have a nice day dear friend.
