I don't know if you have heard about this yet, I just recently found out, but if not there was an oil rig explosion in the gulf of mexico area. I think this happened a week ago, and something went wrong and the oil rig itself exploded. Many rigs in other countries have special functions added onto it that if the rig explodes it will stop the oil from floating out of the pipe. But in this situation, there wasn't one. And the oil keeps coming, and coming and escaping from the pipe and spreading more and more across the ocean. It's going towards Louisiana. And this is horrible, horrible. If you've ever seen an oil spill they are reallyy bad. The oil floats on the water, and is REALLY hard to get rid of. It's even worse that it keeps coming out and they are unable to stop it from escaping the pipe. This is horrible for wildlife. Birds are DROWNING in the water, because the oil is getting in their feathers and they can't stay afloat. Fish are getting poisioned and dying. There's no telling what effect it could have on wildlife and the environment. In addition it's also having an effect on fishermen. Because of this, it is harder to get fish. They showed one fisherman on the news talking about how hard it was, and he looked like he was about to cry, he had to stop a few times. This is a really horrible event that has happened. I only wish I could go there to help out somehow.

Ooh sorry bout tat. I didnt kno u had posted a blog about it already.
Yeaahh. Theyre saying it might be one of the worst ecological disasters in north american history!! N oil spills dont come along tat often. I remember a few years ago, there was one I think n it wasn't even tat big, yet it took a loonng time to clean up. I feel SO bad for the poor animals. I'm actually thinking about going into the environmental/biology field, so I'm interested in helping out with these types of things. I would LOVE to be able to know that I helped out and helped to save some animal's lives.

Very sad to hear this. Yes, It's really horrible. We need an international cooperation between countries to manage this. Ultimately if it is not stopped a lot of countries if not the world would be affected. But are there many countries who would be willing to participate in such a cleaning activity. With the funds they have to come out with many would probably think of the financial rewards they can gain. Unless people in their rightful conscience believe it's a moral responsibility for all no cleaning effort would sustain.

Yea, its from BP. Which is really ironnicc. n well. its not like their company INTENTIONALLY did tat. They can still want to be green. But it was SO stupid of them NOT to put the special blocks on the pipe so if this happened, it wouldn't spread. I bet a new law will be enacted for this now.
