I was laid-off

Have you ever been in a status of your life enjoying a good position and having a clear vision of yourself years from then and suddenly, you learned that you are laid-off? That is soooo depressing and frustrating. I was then working in textbook publishing firm based in the Philippines. As copy editor, I enjoyed and endured so much challenges and responsibilities trusted to me by my superior. I was also then enjoying a a very competitive monthly compensation. I had then a clear vision of my self with my family several years from then. But all my concrete plans started to break down when I was asked buy our company president to his office and broke to me the decision that I am one of the employees to be laid off. I accepted that, since I'm already fed up with the situation. His firm is already struggling hard to stay afloat. And there, since I want to help him, and since I also had no choice since I'm already in the list, I left that firm. Days passed by. I just stayed at home with so heavy depression and frustration. I always asked myself why that had to happen. Until now, that is unanswered. So there, instead of letting the time and days pass by idly, I started looking for another job. But sad to say, the competition now is so had. Until now, I'm still unemployed but with a lot of passion and hope that I could have another job. What I want to point out now is that each of us should never lose hope and passion to live. I believe things happen for a reason.

call center work - You are lucky if you don't get burn out.
Well, first of all, thanks for adding me. With the way you write, I don't see any reason for you to stay unemployed. Pal, you have what it takes to be back in the workforce again. Your English communication is good aside from the other qualifications that landed you to your former position in the first place. Otherwise, they wouldn't hire you as copy editor. And besides, the only reason they had to let you go was they couldn't afford it financially anymore. Why don't you try walking in at call center offices? You might like it. Salary is competitive and the promotions are fast paced.

Clowdine, your comment is flattering and, I admit, gave me spirit, sincere thanks. Yes, the only reason why the firm had to let me go was that they can't afford to pay mine and others' monthly compensation, and I had accepted that reason. I didn't start working there immediately as a copy editor. I worked there first as an editorial assistant. Months passed by, the management saw my potentials, so there, they gave me a promotion which stirred so much insecurity from the people around me. Call center jobs would be my last ace. Sorry to say, but I hate working in a call center, however, as mentioned, if I won't make it in other industry, that would be my last resort.
