i've been reading the papers, watching the news, and keeping up with the updates at CNN and other news channels. it seems like everyone is constantly harassing and killing each other almost everyday. and for the longest time its like muslims are either being persecuted for following their beliefs (like in France), or being made fun of (like the issue of the dutch cartoon of the prophet), until the muslim extremist has taken matters into their own hands. why can't they live in peace? why can't we all live in peace? this isn't the world i'd like to bring my future kids into...

i'm not pointing fingers or anything. i'm a muslim too and i love the religion. it's just that there are so many things being pointed around already, i just wish that we muslims don't need to argue or fight amongst ourselves. just like the tolerence that we practice, especially when observing fasting during ramadhan, i really do wish we can stop fighting amongst ourselves and the whole world could also stop fighting about everything. peace is everlasting. violence only leads to an early end. salam to you fellow myLotter..

that would be the ideal situation. but i hate it when our politicians & government doesn't see things that way. most of the time they always 'politicize' and make an issue about everything. and inevitably this always flames up emotions of the people on the ground. talking and explaining to individuals is easy, but when the message has to go across to many people, that's the difficult part. like they say on tv sometimes,"the person is smart, but people are not". i guess that statement is kind of true when we see the what's on the news nowadays. Martin Luther King said it best,"can't we all just get along..?". we can hope, we can pray for it. but peace will always be something that all of us have to want collectively in order to achieve it, i guess..

Hi mario, I also felt the same as you do. Apprehensive and very implausible, if people insult each other, hate, even killed, just because of differences in beliefs and religion. In my view, those who behave like that, don't belong to any religion. God (of any religion) would never have ordered people to harm each others.

Have you heard the story about 3 blind men, who want to know the shape of elephant? I think, people are like that. Only see from one side, which more comfortable to them. And unfortunetely then, they create a border line, and consider those who are outside of the line is an enemy. Naive and stupid. Hope we not become one of them.

that's the thing. i do believe that no religion advocates violence as a solution to anything. but it's so weird that the some people who preach religion, peace and brotherhood, don't practice what they preach when it actually comes down to doing it. differences in belief is good, as it gives us different perspectives about the same thing. but i hate it when some parties use that same fact to encourage hatred & violence. *sigh...what kind of world did we inherit, and what kind of world are we leaving for our kids? there's got to be some wise leaders out there who can put some kind of sense into extremist and such..

peaceful life was very difficult to obtain. peace may be created depending on each individual person, no religion or group based. if everyone would love each other and are always appreciated, it would create peace. most people are insulting each other, mocking, blaming each other so that the resulting hostility. we need only create a sense of mutual tolerance, respect and affection which is primarily, if everyone would do it, sure peace will be created. so we must start from ourselves.
