I started taking Prozac in Dec 08 and I weighed about 189 and then I started taking birth control pills and wasn't watching my weight and next time I got on the scale I was 223! I definetly gained weight on the birth control pills so I immediately stopped taking them. Problem is I have drastically cut my calories and have not lost any weight. I am wondering if the Prozac (generic) is possibly hampering my weight loss? Is this possible?

When I was on Prozac it actually helped me with weight loss. The one adverse effect it had on me was anxiety attacks. I have been on Zoloft for about 3 years now and under my doctor's supervision am weening off it. I have been losing weight, but doing it by changing my eating habits.

I've been on Prozac for almost two years now and haven't had any weight gain issues. If anything, it's helped me lose weight because I haven't felt the need to "drink my sorrows away" so to speak. I'm not sure that stopping your intake of birth control pills was the right move and I would seriously consider talking to your doctor about the weight gain and see what he/she suggests you do.
Also, merely cutting calories may not help you lose weight unless you combine the new healthy eating with exercise as well. I'd definitely check with your doctor though because that seems like a drastic weight gain.

Well for depression, medicines are not solution. Do Meditation, try breathing exercise, it will help you balance and handle depression.
