I'm going to start an SEO campaign soon and I'm interested to find out if anybody here knows about the Angela and Paul backlinks. How many links from their list have you used in your campaign? What page rank do you have now? And what was it before your backlinking campaign?

I think that you should read this article: http://www.zimbio.com/Search+engine+optimization/articles/Tri1DEy-k52/Angela+and+Paul+s+Backlinks before using this kind of back link. Search engines certainly take backlinks into account but tend to deprecate links which are not from sites which really have no relation to the subject of your site. In other words, link exchange programs can actually harm your ranking. The best kind of back link comes from sites with a similar topic to your own (with similar keywords) and which you have personally persuaded that it will be of mutual benefit to post reciprocal links. 'No follow' links are worthless. Many people who profess to post links to your site will tag them 'no follow'. There is really no easy way to getting effective back links, any more than there is an 'easy' way of getting people to recommend you in real/offline life.

I understand the concerns in the article from zimbio and the argument would be completely valid if, and only if, you use all the links in the list as if you are required to do so. I don't feel compelled to use all their links. Also, there are two types of users for these links, SEO specialists and end-users. I'm both. So even if I don't find one particular link as appropriate for my own blogs/websites, I can surely use this knowledge for clients who would be directly benefited. I'm just interested in getting feedback from actual and active users of the list. Since I'm not a subscriber to the list and I only get copies by searching the internet, I am not sure as the true number of links in the lists. It would be interesting to know from an actual subscriber. If you are not using the Angela and Paul lists, where do you find information about sites that can offer backlinking opportunity for your own? Do you frequent any SEO forums?
