Asbestos Exposure Cause Cancer called Mesothelioma

This form of cancer is been a hot topics discussions today.As a health care provider,I am also worried about this form of cancer that affecting many people every year.As what I have read,this cancer is caused by asbestos exposure for many years. Mostly affected are Americans.More than 28 millions Americans have had significant exposure to asbestos, whether in an occupational setting, through the use of consumer products that contained asbestos,or through environmental exposure in items like building insulation. Just posting this topics so that everyone should know what are the effects of using asbestos in the industry.This is also an awareness to everyone who have been expose to asbestos.

Hi ellebo418, I am also a HCP and especially famialar with the oncology. Yes, asbestos exposure is cause of cancer, especially mesothelioma. But i have to say that, a lot reasons can cause cancer and mostly those causes combinedly result in cancer. Among them, environment pullution, radiation overuse or

Unfortunately asbestos is still all around us. It was an incredibly popular insulation material in the 60s/70s before it was banned. I was told that developers were given notice that asbestos was going to be banned, so they used as much of it as possible before the ban so they could burn up their supplies and not lose money. Asbestos is not harmful if it is undesturbed. It is when construction is being done, and asbestos might become disturbed and/or airborne that it poses a major health hazard. As you have stated, long term effects from asbestos exposure include lung cancer. There are many active lawsuits out there today filed by groups of people exposed to asbestos. It is also a naturally occuring element found throughout the united states. Certain geographical areas have been found to have a higher percentage of naturally occuring asbestos in the air.
