So because I'm trying to loose 25 pounds before Christmas I watch stuff like this. I'm stuck at my 13 pounds lost. I just can't seem to get past this. I'm not looking forward to BBQ season and 3 months of soup and rice. This package is a $130 package. But before I get into something like this...does it work? I'm trying to find it cheaper on Ebay or Amazon...but even then, I don't want to read another book motivating me to do this, get another recipe book, or see more exercises I should do. I'm mostly interrested in the 21 Days Metabolism Makeover and how to mix up the foods so I can still have brownies, burritos.. and pizza. So .. have you tried this program? Is it expensive? Hard? Does it work? Have you kept it off? Thanks for any tips you have! Bear

I know what you mean, I've been stuck at this weight now for 4 months - very discouraging, I know I need to exercise more, but now the heat is getting ready to start and I really don't want to be out in that!

How long have you been at it? What is your goal? Are you on a program? I started in January (I think) ..seems like forever ago. I keep telling myself "I lost 10 pounds! It's gone!" I want to see 15 pounds. Have you tried this program I mentioned?

Food Loves Fat Loss System eh...never heard of it, do you add things like wheat germ, flax seed, bran, and other high fiber foods into your brownie recipes as part of the flour? I love to do that, just fill it with healthy stuff, and load it with chocolate...mm yum. I like appetizer diet cookies too, they taste great, and are loaded with Protein and Fiber, I will send you some sometime, if you like. With Appreciation.

Only because you asked so nicely dear... Are you serious about changing your habits? There are programs available... Watch your thoughts, because your thoughts become your actions. Watch your actions, because your actions become habits. Watch your habits, because your habits become your character. That kind of really deep down stuff, that starts right in the heart of it all. Since you gave me permission, of a sort to share with you, I will share the cookies, which aren't free, and the program I use, which is free. With Respect and Appreciation.

I only share what I think is valuable, and by all means, let me give you the free cookies. That is part of what I do, sample product. I sample, Cookies, Energy Drinks, Vitamins, and maybe one day I will bring myself to sample Limu Plus, though I doubt it, I usually don't want to share that tasty delicious stuff. I sample, you like it you buy it. You buy it, you let your friends try, or they ask what your secret it is, or you brag about it, and your friends buy it....and that is the way the business model works. Have you ever read the poem never ever quit?? If not, Well I think I will have to start a MyLot Discussion with it one of these days soon. With Respect and Appreciation.

I have never been successful in any dieting simply because I have no staying power. I believe to be successful in any kind of diet one need to have strong will power. I have been trying to shed some fats for ages but never seems to reach my target. I have given up and stay the way I am now.

That metabolism book you mentioned.. is that the Jillian Michaels one? I'm a huge fan of hers, but I haven't read the book yet.. it would probably mess me up at this point. The thing about dieting is you have to do what's right for you. I personally do not buy into those scams. You shouldn't have to pay $$ to lose weight (except for gym memberships and good programs like Weight Watchers). I myself am on a low fat diet. I started it in October and have lost 70 pounds. At first I was really strict with what I'd eat. I was watching sugars and fat at the same time, and even gave up foods like carrots because they're high in sugars. After a couple of months I relaxed a little bit. I still will not eat a lot of carrots, but I won't go picking them out of certain things they're in. I'll allow myself to "cheat" when I feel the need.. I'll even allow myself to gorge now and then if I really need it. The key is to slowly change your eating habits for the better, and make healthier choices. A few simple switches you can make (if you haven't yet) that will help with weight loss is opting for whole grains... swap white bread for whole wheat (find one that does not contain high fructose corn syrup), get whole wheat pasta, and instead of white rice choose brown rice which is a whole grain. You can also substitute sweet potatoes for white potatoes because they're healthier and don't contain the starch that white potatoes have. I've also swapped all our ground beef for ground turkey. My husband is fine with the swaps I've made, and although he's not attempting to lose weight, he's dropped a few pounds just because I'm preparing our foods healthier than I did before. Also watch your portion sizes. You don't have to follow the exact serving suggestion, just take less than what you normally would, and fill yourself up with something healthier. I personally eat all the veggies on my plate BEFORE starting on the other foods (and I take more veggies than I used to).. and I leave the least healthy option for last, that way I probably won't finish it. Eat slowly, concentrate on the flavors, and stop eating before you're full! The best part about what I've done is that my appetite is so much smaller now. Even when I do gorge myself I don't eat nearly as much as I used to because I get full so quickly now. I also notice that even on nights when I want to cheat, I'm still attempting to make healthier options than I once would. For instance a few days ago I bought a package of cookies.. first time I bought cookies since October. I was stressed out that day, and being an emotional eater all I wanted to do was stuff my face. I broke into the cookies, and normally would have eaten at least half the package.. and that night I told myself that it was okay. But I still stopped after just a few cookies and then I made myself a sandwich to fill myself on. Sorry for the rambling here.. I know this is getting long, but I feel like I've learned so much by changing my habits and I like to share the knowledge of learned if it will help others. I hope you're able to get something useful out of my advice here.

Jillian Michaels (yes from Biggest Loser) has a book out about hormones and metabolism.. that's why I asked. I forget the name of it though. My father in law, who is diabetic, lent me this book called Sugar Busters. It lists foods that although may appear healthy, they're actually high in sugars, like white potatoes, corn, and yes even carrots! They're high on the glycemic index (not sure I spelled that right). Sounds to me though as if you need to pick it up with the exercising. If you're eating right, and drinking right (watch out for calories in your drinks too, a lot of people don't count those!) and still not losing weight then it's most likely your exercise that's slowing you down. In order to burn body fat you need to raise your heart rate for at least 30 minutes a day. Basically I judge by sweat. If I'm working hard enough to sweat, then I'm doing good! I feel especially proud of myself when I'm literally soaked in sweat, like I was today after running 5.5 miles on a treadmill! Love it!! It also may help you to keep a food journal. Most dieters swear by it. I've done it a few times, you may end up being surprised by how many calories you consume in a day. A good website is http://caloriecount.about.com It will give you a diet profile, tell you how many calories you should be eating a day, and it list most foods so you can just type in the foods you eat and it will keep track of your daily calories for you. It will also help you keep track of calories burned... again just type in the activity and it will tell you about how many calories you burned doing it.

carrots have a lot of sugar inthem?? AHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... That right there was worth the price of admission my friend! I appreciate all this advice. I have always been a healthy eater so to speak. Wheat wheat wheat is all we've ever had in the house. We really don't eat meat but a couple times a month. It's so expensive and that way when we do it's a treat! I have started eating fruit for breakfast. I forgot how much I liked it! I don't eat after dinner except on rare occasions which I'm up late and my forte is All Bran Flakes and a cup of milk.

Sorry. Sent it before I was done. I have noticed that I'm not as hungry when I don't eat bread. So, I've been trying to cut down on that. The book was by a man. I can't remember his name right now. I don't know much about Julian except she is on biggest loser. Right? Keep sharing! I'll keep absorbing! Thank you again for writing so much. Hopefully others will be helped by your lessons learned as well! Bear

Have you tried simply Googling it? I’m sure you have…I don’t know much about this program. I want to lose a few pounds too and over the years I’ve found that increase exercise, eating only when I am hungry, stopping when I am full, making wise food choices and cutting out unnecessary high fat snacks is all I will ever need to lose weight; problem is getting started!

You pretty much summed it up right there.. that's all I did and I lost 70 pounds. It is hard to start it, but once you start seeing results that can be so motivating!

I do exercise, not at a gym or anything, but here at home. I don't like sugar or high fat snacks... I do eat a little bit about every 3 hours when I'm hungry. I've learned huger vs hanker! Hunger actually hurts in me. ...I'm just not sure what else to do?

Diet is something that is difficult to control when you are on a journey of weight loss. However, in the past year I feel like I've been very successful on my journey, though I still have a long way to go. I didn't cut anything that I enjoy completely out of my diet, instead I have just started eating things in more moderation than I would have done in the past. I enjoy pizza and several other things that wouldn't be considered to be healthy food so when I want to eat them, I will eat one piece of pizza or one brownie. I made a conscious effort to take my time when I am eating these things so that I do not gorge myself.

Taking your time while eating is so important! I try to concentrate on the flavor of the food. It makes me feel more satisfied with what I've eaten. If I don't feel satisfied I'll end up hungry shortly after dinner, which is usually dangerous, lol. But when I take my time and concentrate on the flavors instead of wolfing it down because it's so good.. that usually lasts me all night! Also, shortly after dinner I do feel a bit of a sweet tooth, like I'm craving a dessert. So I'll make myself a cup of coffee (usually decaf) and add some fat free (or you can use sugar free if you're watching carbs instead of fat) flavored creamer and calorie free sugar. The coffee does the trick and I feel like I've had a dessert, though it's very low in calories (just a few from the creamer). Someone had suggested to me to try sugar free hot chocolate.. I just prefer the coffee.. but whatever works for you.

I love the coffee idea! However, I'm even affraid of the few grams of fat in the creamer!! I seriously think my body is rebelling against me! Does anyone else ever feel that? I have tried to eat slower and I do eat only once, not twice during dinner (Except burritos! You've read my other discussion then you know I can't do just one!) I love to savor anyway. I'm trying to teach the rest of the family to sl o w down when they eat.... (It makes the meal go further too!) Thanks for your comments. ALL are appreciated!
