What do you think about Becak (Pedicab)?

Hi, Indonesian Mylotters!
All of u are really familiar with this kind of transportation. Actually I have no problem with their existence. But sometimes they're bothering enough. The Becak drivers often drive their vehicle carelessly. They ignore red lamp, turn left or right suddenly, or comes along in the middle of the road innocently. I had some bad experiences with Becak. What about you, mylotters? Let's share our experience. And happy mylotting!

Hi adhyz..it's so sad hearing that you still have problem with your heart..but how about today, do you still have problem, or maybe you've found someone new to replace your ex-girl friend? hehe.
it's good if you don't have bad experience like mine. actually it's not too bad for me but I just felt so anxious why they could be that so 'free' to do what they want. they even like to cross the road without any signal. i think it's terrifying..

Pedicab is a unique means of transportation. It is undeniable, pedicab drivers sometimes, not careful, and whim. They just need direction, now a lot of pedicab drivers, which is orderly.

i do agree with you. though we have already had some vehicles at our house such as motorcycle or cars, but I hope that pedicab will still exist in the future. maybe it is not for real transportation but especially for having recreation or something..:)

you're right..nowadays there is a mini pedicab which is modified by the owner so it becomes more attractive and colorful. some pedicab drivers sometimes have special attraction. the attraction is like driving pedicab using one wheel, slalom and pedicab race. it's so exciting and funny. riding mini pedicab can also a new experience for people who never ride mini pedicab before. how about you, have you ever rode mini pedicab before? :)

Yes. Perhaps, becak can be set at tourist attractions. It would be better, and better organized.

pedicab. for people jogja certainly no stranger. pedicab Yogyakarta also has its own characteristics that are different from other regions. Form of three-wheeled vehicle's all-round, plump with ornaments wheel cover in left-right, not infrequently are found to have artistic touches are really beautiful with the colorful paints. Driving a pedicab is not an easy job. Even very .. very hard because truly rely on muscle power. I do not have a bad experience with the pedicab. not all pedicab drivers, driving carelessly.

ya, pedicab of Jogjakarta is bigger I think than pedicab in my place. and the color all are red. am I right? I visited Jogjakarta for four or five times but I never enjoyed pedicab there. but I do agree with you that driving pedicab is not easy at all cos there's a passenger and of course it's very heavy. there must be a balance between hands and legs of the driver. and, ya, it's not easy at all..

Not all of them like that. There is some good driver too. Most of becak driver are not educated well, and they come from low economic stage. Most of them struggle with their rude life, and do not have enough education how to appreciate others. If they educated well, I think they won't became becak driver...

I think we still need becak for our daily activities cos they're unique, cheap and antique. sometimes I take becak for recreation. becak has become the part of our society for years and I will miss them so much if the disappear from our society. just like another transportation, becak has good side and bad side..what can we do is just enjoy them..:)

I was familiar with this kind transportation when I was in Jogjakarta. For almost six years in Jogjakarta, I never get problem with pedicab. We can blame pedicab as the only reason for the mesh traffic. Not all pedicab driver drive their pedicab careless. Otherwise, I see many motorcycle and city bus drivers also do the same. They drive their motorcycle or bus careless. I saw many motor cycle and bus drivers broke the traffic law. They often didn't obey traffic light. Bus driver often ignore stop sign.
I think, if there are mutual respect among us, we will get comfort in traffic. everybody have to obey the rule, so everything will be okey in the street and we won't be stuck in traffic jam.

that's the point! we should obey the traffic rules to be comfort in the street. but some of us sometimes neglect the rules so we endanger others. for your information only that I'm a good motor rider. I always obey the rule and almost never break the rule. LOL. cos I realize that once we make mistake our life would be ended. and about pedicab drivers, i do respect them cos they do so cos they only want to get some rupiahs to earn their family living..but when they start to 'action', I choose to avoid them..

i ve almost hit by a pedicab driver ^_^ if i am angry that i like a rickshaw pedicab driver so i had to relent because the situation there ^_^ now who should be in the wrong it is the city planning department for not making a special road for pedicab drivers ^_^

ya, government should be more serious in dealing with the traffic problems so we can minimize the accidents. it's not comfortable at all when riding motorbike but there's so many holes on the street..

Yes yes i like becak, but i hate the driver's behaviour. They just park whereever they want to park their becak as if the street belongs to them. Also, some drivers are pretty clumsy.
Well, overall, becak is very convenient and would really helps you reach remote alley, beside bajaj...lol...

I agree with you, brotha. becak is useful enough. it is cheap and fun to enjoy around the town by pedicab. but the drivers attitude sometimes are very annoying. I almost got accident because of their bad attitude.
